Exceptionally rare new business position for a commercial leader, with business development and Asia freight forwarding experience. Are you an experienced business development leader, with a strong track record selling freight services to major shippers in Asia but looking for a stronger price-based proposition for your clients to make you more successful? If you are excited by the above questions, please read on for a comprehensive outline of this opportunity: The position will be based in Singapore, working for one of the largest exporters and freight purchasers in the US. They have the competitive advantage of significant purchasing power and spare freight capacity and are now seeking to monetize this, specifically on reverse Asia – US trade routes. This role will essentially set up a regional freight forwarding organisation within a major corporation, focusing on driving a new revenue stream for freight movements that are already in place by developing business with other Asia based exporters that use the same trade routes. The goal is to optimize underutilized capacity, by driving a new revenue stream and offering new clients the advantages of significant economies of scale. Additionally, as this business have already been set up with this internal business unit in other parts of the world, there has been significant investment in technology, partner relations and bespoke customer service and administration to compete strongly with the excellent service standards of a traditional freight forwarder, but with the competitive advantage of price to be passed on to your key clients. This role will be suited to an ambitious, commercial, and entrepreneurial individual, that has relevant experience and will be excited and energized by this kind of unique opportunity. In addition to having sales and business development experience, you will be expected to look within the business for internal opportunity for freight purchasing enhancements, that can be married up with the opportunity, and ideally to your pre-existing network in the market. It will help if you have corporate experience and a background working in a dynamic, entrepreneurial, and green-field or new business environment. Of specific interest, would be if you have a knowledge of the key FCL / container export market from key Asia destinations including Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, China, and North Asia.
