Liberty Steel Group is our international steel and mining business with an integrated offering – from the production of liquid steel made from raw and recycled materials through to high value precision engineered steels and associated services, sold to customers around the world Position Summary This position has been created in order to improve our procurement and sourcing processes through the development of a robust strategy around alternate sourcing, either with an in-house or outsourced perspective, for our steel businesses in India. This will also cover export logistics associated to procurement and sales, so we require broad skillset across operational procurement, process improvement and export logistics and compliance. Key Responsibilities · Manage all commercial transactions for the India operation · Develop & implement overall commercial strategy and ensure smooth flow of operations · Managing all costing for the India transactions happening via Indian entity · Evaluating and reviewing company’s logistics operations business practices, updating and developing process documentation, restructuring opportunities, and eliminating non-value added activities · Planning, budgeting & procurement of raw materials and stores & maintenance items · Negotiate & secure commercial contracts pertaining to export ensuring that commercial terms are in the best interest of all parties concerned. · Managing entire supply chain & logistics, including negotiation & finalization of rates & transportation contracts, appointment of transporters & CHAs, Chartering of Vessels etc. · Liaising with local administration, various government departments & stakeholders to ensure smooth operations. · Interact with various government agencies such as Foreign Trade, GST & Sales Tax etc. · Spearheading logistics, planning & negotiating with transporters & C&F Agents for cost effective transport solutions & clearances · Awareness of external factors (including competitors, government business initiatives, current and proposed legislation in relation to commercial activities) which impact the business. · Assessing the risks to the business of any new commercial opportunities. · Collating and analysing business data pertaining to all commercial activities. · Ensuring that all commercial activities meet or improve on budget, cost, volume and efficiency targets in line with business objectives. · Collaborate and coordinate with diverse teams (purchase, customer service, accounts, exports, logistics etc.) · Build and maintain relationship with key stakeholders. · Monitor performance of commercial activities using key metrics and prepare MIS reports for senior management. · Auditing entire commercial operation - post shipment reviewing of costing. · In depth knowledge and understanding of export activity, terms, and terminologies. · Can resolve all issues related to CHA, shipping line, inspection agency, customer & supplier. · Analyse the case and pricing inputs, and make recommendations. · Driving Process automation changes for different processes. Key Skills & Experience Requirements · Engineering background. · 15years experience within metals industry is essential. · Strong focus in process improvement. · Experience and understanding of export documentation and compliance needs in India. · The ability and desire to grow a specialist function focused on procurement and sourcing development functional excellence · Previous team management experience within a similar function.
