Operations Manager

Job Description : OPERATIONS MANAGER UGANDA Sim Plastics (U) Ltd is a plastics manufacturing company dealing in the production of different shapes of plastic containers mainly supplied to our sister company Movit Products Ltd. The company is seeking to recruit a highly competent, motivated and professional individual to fill the position of Operations Manager. Job Summary: The Operations Manager will be responsible for providing exceptional leadership and management of the company operations with special focus on manufacturing and supply chain areas (production, maintenance, sales, procurement/ sourcing). . Key Duties and Responsibilities: • Develop and execute short- and long-term operational plans that meet strategic and operational goals, and continuous improvement opportunities. • Develop Standard procurement policies and operational procedures that meet the strategic requirement of the SPL. • Provide leadership in the developing lean and agile manufacturing process that are competitive within the industry. • Take lead in developing and implementing environmental policies, OHS and best operations work practices for the good of the company. • Identify and report strategic and operational issues and risks for the business operations in a timely manner. • Formulate, implement and review important operational policy, planning and strategic decisions. • Effectively and efficiently manage the production of the required daily/weekly/monthly targets in line with customer specifications, meeting quality and delivery expectation, minimizing costs where possible and ensure the required best working practices are maintained at all times • Communicate and liaise with other departmental managers regarding output of stock to ensure production targets are met. •Drive manufacturing and supply chain process improvements on operations overall. • Develop and sustain strategic material, machinery and equipment supply channels to ensure the company gets the best value of each shillings invested • Own the process value chain of the entire production processes to ensure profitability, quality and value for time and money • Work closely with the production manager to ensure equipment effectiveness (OEE)by appropriate data analysis. • Coordinate the execution of production, maintenance, and setup activities recommend design for special equipment. • Prepare expenditure projections weekly, monthly and annually and manage the same • Accountable for organisational compliance in accordance with good manufacturing practices (GMP), international standards organization (ISO) and other strategic quality objectives. • Implement, oversee and evaluate projects. • Conduct research and timely update management on the polymer world trends Working Relationship and Work Environment • Working with the entire staff and departments in SIM Plastics • Maintain good relations with key associates and company external stakeholders • Ability to meet deadlines and exhibit highest degree of flexibility in terms of working hours Qualifications, Skills and Experience: • Bachelor’s degree in a related Discipline from an accredited University • MBA is desirable. • Minimum of 15 years of experience in a manufacturing is required in the managerial position. • Demonstrated manufacturing and quality management practices • Experience working with ERP systems is an added advantage. • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency • Team player with great communication, influencing and analytical skills. • Solid understanding of financial management. • Excellent communication, leadership and people management skills
