Job Description : STEEL PROCESS AND TECHNOLOGY DIRECTOR UAE This role is strictly for Steel experts who have a solid background in process, technology and expertise in DRI plants. Head of Process, Technology & Equipment: The Firm: One of the UAE’s leading steel manufacturing giants who have been operating for 40 years across the GCC producing the finest steel for the industry. With complex factories and plants across the country including leading DRI, Steel Melting & Rolling Mills plants the group is looking to enhance their footprint, operations, QC, equipment, and technology to maximise lean 6’s and productivity. Role Competencies: · Manages a team responsible for the equipment technology and manufacturing processes for Steel Melting, Rolling Mill, Lime Plants, DRI plants and future plants. Will oversee the design and implementation of new plants for the future, including tech, equipment’s etc. · Ensures continuous improvement, lean six sigma in equipment, process, cost, quality and production. · Manages all engineering projects technicality to resolves process and technology problems. · Identify and lead day-to-day process improvement activities as well as major projects to increase productivity and cost effectiveness. · Be a strong effective leader who can guide, train and develop plant managers to be more effective. Responsibilities & Measurables: Responsible for the preparation of all technical feasibility studies for new projects. · Contribute to assess the best available technologies and new technologies in the field. · Coordinate with internal and external parties for the continuous development and improvement of the machinery and equipment at the plants. Support the operating companies for upgrading existing machines. · Provide technical analysis on Process Performance and the assurance that the process standards, procedures and specifications are in place for the assets. · Provide day-to-day support for production operations. Lead or assist with problem-solving to minimize downtime, maximize throughput, and ensure safety and quality. · Create and maintain documented work instructions for all plant operations. · Collaborate closely with in-plant counterparts to implement new procedures as well as changes, revisions, and corrective actions. · Develop process engineering initiatives to manage project implementation and testing. Qualifications & Skills for the mandate: ® Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Metallurgical, Mechanical, Industrial) ® MBA is a desired but not essential ® At least 20 years’ experience within the steel manufacturing plants ® 10 to 15 years in leading DRI, Steel Melting & Rolling Mills plants ® 5 to 10 years in DRI, Steel Melting & Rolling Mills plants Process Engineering ® Exceptional process and technology experience within the above field, competent setting up new equipment and new plants. ® Technical Know-How in Steel industry, DRI plants, Steel Melting, Rolling Mills Plants and processes. ® Knowledge and involvement in plants erection and technology production equipment. ® Solid exposure in re-engineering and new build of plants.
