(Solid Rock Steel) is still to this day, a family-run company built with solid foundations of quality and innovation. Benny's passion in metal fabricating trade grew from a one-man operation in the basement of his East Vancouver home, to a three-acre operation which consists of a brand new 45,000 square-foot shop/office/field complex and more than 60 dedicated, full-time employees. As one of the most respected in steel fabricating operations in Greater Vancouver, Solid Rock Steel handles some of the most complex and unique projects specializing in steel connection design, detailing, fabrication, welding, sandblasting, painting, field installation, and more. Some of our iconic projects include Skytrain Stations (Rupert, Renfrew, Sapperton, et al), the Cliffwalk at Capilano, moving art, commercial, institutional, residential, and industrial structures all over the country. About the Opportunity Currently, Solid Rock Steel is looking for a General Manager to join our team on a full-time basis, overseeing day-to-day operations in our office in Surrey, BC. More specifically, some of your key responsibilities will include: · Providing inspired leadership to support the company's mission, vision, and values · Promoting the company's culture that encourages top performance and high morale · Improving administration processes, formulating policies, and coordinating business operations · Approving and hiring of employees, supporting staff development, and ensuring training of employees · Reviewing project budget proposals and project plans (risk assessment, schedule, etc.) · Reviewing & monitoring project Change Orders · Driving the revenue goals while efficiently managing operational costs · Analyzing accounting and financial data by consulting on ways to improve cost-efficiency (value engineering, capacity restrictions, etc.) About You In order to qualify for this role, you must have at least 10 years experience in steel fabricating or steel construction, with at least 5 years experience in a direct construction supervisory role. Candidates with Business Management or MBA is a preferred asset, but not required. You may spend 5% of your time as our new General Manager on site visits and client meetings in the lower mainland, so you must have a valid driver's license to perform these duties.
