Operations and Commercial Head

Job Description : OPERATIONS AND COMMERCIAL HEAD NIGERIA a leading provider of inland container terminal services, freight forwarding, and logistics services in Nigeria is looking for a strategic and dynamic individual to lead the operations and commercial functions of the organization. This is a C-suite role reporting directly to the Managing director, with responsibility for leading and driving overall performance of the commercial and business operational areas to achieve growth in throughput (TEUs), revenue, profitability, market share and innovation. The ideal candidate is expected to manage all the core business areas, within the business and interface with the government and all other stakeholders. The Ideal Candidate will: · Provide business leadership for the operations functions covering Logistics, Bond Operations, Freight Forwarding and Terminal (Depot)as well as business development. · Initiate, develop and drive the implementation of terminal operations, bond operations, logistics, freight forwarding and commercial strategies. · Oversee the overall day to day projects, activities and performance of the Operations business evidenced by efficiency and growth in throughput (TEUs), revenue, profitability, and cost savings while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations · Provide support to the MD and the Board in support of the organisation’s strategic and business development plans. · Lead the development of pricing strategies, negotiations, formulate and implement approved pricing and programmes to increase profitability, enhance market presence and competitive performance of the Company’s service offerings. · Develop and maintain good working relationships with relevant government agencies and officials · Lead all business development and marketing related activities to build, maintain and foster effective business relationships with clients and strategic partners to enhance performance and improve return on investments. Required Skill, Competencies and Experience Stakeholder Management, Knowledge of all port and customs documentation procedures, Marketing, Project management, Business acumen and market intelligence, Client relationship management Minimum 10 years experience in port, terminal, shipping & logistics operations and in a commercial role within the industry, 3 of which should have been at management level. Graduate and/ or Post-Graduate degrees in Terminal/Logistics Operations, Engineering or Social Sciences. Certifications from shipping, maritime, logistics and marketing institutes/associations. Solid understanding of shipping operations and the logistics industry
