Deputy Managing Director 

Job Description : DEPUTY MANAGING DIRECTOR NIGERIA a highly reputable Company in the Power sector, seeks to recruit a result-oriented person to fill the vacant position of Deputy Managing Director (DMD)”. The Deputy Managing Director’s responsibility is to provide Executive Management support for the Managing Director in driving the organization's vision, mission & values. Also to support the Managing Director to set direction and achieve results for the short & long-term success of the organization. This position reports directly to the Managing Director. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES The job responsibilities for this role will include: · To set long term (3 to 5 years) direction for the organization in terms of vision, mission and values - in close coordination with the MD & CEO. · To set the short to medium-term (1 to 3 years) direction of the organization in terms of annual strategy, business plans/roadmaps, most vital KPIs/targets, etc. - in close coordination with the MD & CEO. · To review progress on set objectives, plans, KPIs on a monthly/quarterly basis, to support top management in the removal of bottlenecks, and carry out the necessary course corrections as necessitated. · Provide strategic leadership to the staff to support and enable the organization to achieve its vision and mission. · Lead a dynamic and growing team, fostering an environment that stimulates creativity, rewards innovation, promotes collaboration and facilitates teamwork. · Lead commitment to quality service; evaluating of results on customer services; representing the company to a major customer and benchmarking leading-edge practices · To maintain a positive image of the company by maintaining relationships with local, international businesses and government and the public; maintaining employee commitment to the company and enforcing ethical business practices · To participate in various community, customers and employees’ engagement forums as & when needed towards understanding their needs/expectations, creation of world-class work culture, motivation, knowledge sharing, dissemination of company’s achievements & future plans, etc. · To ensure cost control activities; monitor revenues and expenditures in the assigned area to ensure prudent financial control, effective and efficient use of budgeted funds, materials, facilities and time. · To engage effectively towards setting & improving systems & processes – including IT-enabled systems, automation, technological interventions, etc. - necessary for the short & long term success of the organization. · To resolve inter-departmental issues/conflicts so as to expedite decision making & execution on key action plans of the organization towards improved profitability. · To propose and convince the Board on vital actions needed for organizational success. · To guide & mentor various Chiefs – especially the CTO and CCO – towards the development & deployment of suitable systems & processes towards customer satisfaction. · To participate in vendor approval, contract formulations, negotiations and finalization of financial terms & conditions – as per Delegation of Power (DoP) – so as to expedite procurement activities in line with business needs. · To engage effectively with all stakeholders in policy advocacy, as needed on a case by case basis and towards better relationship management with regulators, government agencies and topline customers, etc. · To participate in various other activities that would be critical (strategic or/and tactical) for this role from time to time, but not mentioned here. · Other duties as assigned by the Managing Director REQUIREMENTS · BSc. in Business, Science or Engineering related discipline · A Master degree in a related discipline is an advantage. · Membership of a minimum of one relevant professional association is required. · Minimum of 20 years cognate top-tier management experience in related company/industry preferably a best-in-class company out of which 7 years must have been spent in a senior management role. Expatriates have a distinct advantage. · Strong understanding of the electricity sector businesses and value chain. · Strategic Planning and Business Development (services and products) · Demonstrated success in organizational capacity building, including fiscal management and budgeting, people management, and programmatic oversight success · Strong Business & Financial Management skills including the ability to operate within an approved budget and ensure optimal resource utilization. · Solid organizational abilities, including planning, delegation and task facilitation. · Demonstrated ability to take a prudent business risk, develop innovative approaches and make effective, timely and well-determined decisions. · Excellent and demonstrated knowledge of management and marketing principles · Deep Customer Relationship Management skills · Strong problem solving and analytical skills · Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word). · Strong work ethic with high sense of passion and commitment. · Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to effectively and persuasively present information to top management, customers, and employees.
