Job Description : COO NIGERIA a leading firm in the Power Sector, seeks to recruit a result-oriented candidate with a distinguished career in the Power or Energy Sector to fill the vacant position of Chief Operating Officer (COO)”. The Chief Operating Officer’s responsibilities include Organizational Leadership, Financial Management, Policy Development, Operational Management. The position reports directly to the Managing Director and is expected to align with the CEO and the Board to actualize the Company’s vision, mission and values. : · To plan and lead strategies towards targeted revenue collection & recovery, e.g., ways for reducing bad debts, prioritization of defaulters for recovery follow-up, using innovations & analytics. · Ensure that the company’s commercial losses are well below the target stipulated by the regulator year-to-year. · Define and drive commercial strategy for the company towards effective contribution to the Company’s vision, mission and values. · Deliver strategic leadership for defining the commercial path to growth and profitability of the Company and the establishment of an effective growth process and infrastructure. · Oversee the management of all the processes under its responsibility through the establishment of standards, procedures and work processes. He/she has to ensure that the development and implementation of Management Information Systems are adapted to the needs of the processes · Work on the structural changes for the Distribution operations department to make more efficient and profitable operations including preventive maintenance activities and elaborate recommendations · Build good business relations with other energy sector participants and stakeholders in Nigeria, Discos, TCN, Generation, NERC etc. and build efficient business relations with their management. · Participate in various community, customers and employees’ engagement forums as & when needed towards understanding their needs/expectations, creation of world-class work culture, motivation, knowledge sharing, dissemination of company’s achievements & future plans, etc. · Lead a dynamic and growing team, fostering an environment that stimulates creativity, rewards innovation, promotes collaboration and facilitates teamwork. · To participate in various other activities that would be critical (strategic or/and tactical) for this role from time to time, but not mentioned here. · Create effective measurement tools to gauge the efficiency and effectiveness of internal and external processes. · Provide accurate and timely reports outlining the operational condition of the company. · To set long term (3 to 5 years) direction for the organization in terms of vision, mission and values - in close coordination with the Managing Director & CEO · Lead the development of revenue generation and protection strategies, policies and procedures in line with the organization strategic plan · To set short to medium term (1 to 3 years) direction of the organization in terms of annual strategy, business plans/roadmaps, most vital KPIs/targets, etc. - in close coordination with the Managing Director & CEO. · To review progress on set objectives, plans, KPIs on a monthly/quarterly basis and report same to the Managing Director · To support Executive Management in the removal of bottlenecks, and carry out necessary course corrections as necessitated. · To engage effectively towards setting & improving systems & processes – including IT-enabled systems, automation, technological interventions etc. - necessary for the short- & long-term success of the organization. · Other duties as assigned by the Managing Director/CEO BSc./B.Engr. Engineering or a related discipline. MSC or MBA in a related discipline is an advantage. · Minimum of 20 years cognate top-tier management experience in multiple functions of a utility or a service industry where operational excellence, strategic leadership and technological innovations are key core competencies · Strong understanding of the power sector businesses and value chain. · Strong Business & Financial Acumen (including risks management) · Excellent and demonstrated knowledge of management and marketing principles · Deep Customer Relationship Management skills · Strong problem solving and analytical skills · Excellent negotiation, Contract and Service level agreement management. · Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word). · Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Ability to effectively and persuasively present information to top management, customers, and employees. · Strong work ethic with high degree of passion and commitment.
