Manufacturing Director 

Job Description : MANUFACTURING DIRECTOR SOUTH AFRICA Regional Head of Manufacturing - SA plant and plants in Egypt and Nigeria Head office in Johannesburg To ensure manufacturing of quality products at the desired output within the required cost parameters at the SA/Nigeria/Egypt manufacturing sites to meet the agreed sales requirements. To ensure delivery of the Projects including construction, validation and regulatory approval of all new & existing facilities and upgrades of existing facilities in Africa, where and when required. To ensure upkeep and ongoing maintenance of the existing facilities and new facilities in Africa. To ensure capacity planning of the existing and new facilities and continuous improvement of ways of working throughout the manufacturing plants in Africa. Qualifications and experience required: · MPharm or at at least a BPharm Degree or Degree in Engineering with pharamaceutical manufacturing experience · Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (preferable) · Minimum 15 - 20 years relevant plant experience production , with 10 at managerial level · To be conversant with the Medicines Control Act and Pharmacy Act Manufacturing : Responsibility for SA manufacturing plant with functional responsibility for other plants in Africa: · Ensure timely/ cost effective delivery of production output with adherence to the quality standards laid down by the regulatory agencies. · Monitor production outputs in the different plants to ensure and maintain maximum stock availability/ meet commits to the market · Ensure that efficient preventive maintenance programs are designed & implemented & unforeseen breakdowns are rectified efficiently and promptly. · Ensure effective training of all production personnel in the relevant Standard Operating Procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), safety requirements etc. in consultation with the HR team & meeting global Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standards. · Ensure that the production facilities meet the environment, health and safety standards required · Maintain and control budgets within department to achieve budgetary requirements; tracking and understanding of the impact of these for the business P&L. · Conduct continual personal supervision of company to ensure that requirement of Pharmacy Act & Regulations and the requirements of Medical Control Acts are carried out and upheld at all times. · To ensure adherence to Health, Safety and Environmental conditions as lay down by the statutory and company requirements. · Capacity Planning parameters are set and measured against. · To ensure ongoing communication of all issues on site, so that staff are fully informed as to all the operations on site. · Ensure periodic internal quality audits and ensure that the manufacturing facilities are ready for all external quality · Daily and monthly reporting of all activities on site to senior management · Activity relating to Chap2 ss 2.3 and Annexures 16.2 and Chap 20 of SA Guide for GMP (key people- Personnel management elements, Organisation and Personnel and Risk management). · The pharmaceutical responsibilities associated with dispensary practice and pharmaceutical cover of the operation · Annual Budgeting including line management, labour utilization and expenses, budgeting for plant and equipment operation · 3 and 5 year plan and growth projections for labour, plant and equipment · Capital expenditure planning and execution · Financial monitoring and control – cost of goods, labour costs including outsourced staff, monthly expenditure · Planning – undertake and review dept planning activity concomitant to the forecast and capacity of the facility as well as managing the shortfall
