General Manager
20 yearsJob Description : GM MINING SOUTH AMERICA · Provide strong leadership to the team at mine and actively contribute towards the development and implementation of the strategic plan of the company · Oversee recruitment process in key positions · Inspire & motivate his team to give their best and hence contribute towards promoting revenue, profitability, and growth of the company · Oversee project operations to ensure operational efficiency, quality, service, and cost-effective management of resources · Help team members to evolve into leaders who can play bigger roles & assume greater responsibilities later. Key Responsibilities 1. Plan, organize, implement, and monitor overall mine activities, including mine development, production, engineering, geology, finance and human resources 2. Develop, implement, and monitor the policies and procedures in the Company 3. Benchmark mining efficiencies and procurement systems and initiatives in line with best global practices 4. Regular follow-ups on production, productivity and operational management system. Analyze leading and lagging indicators in mine 5. Setting up departmental budgets, forecasting of cost, management of project costs. Check and approve Capital Investment & Capital Projects 6. Be a team player and then lead the team. Develop the KPIs for the team and ensure that team effectively perform to achieve the KPIs. Reward excellence and manage substandard performers 7. Ensure effective communication, participation and consultation amongst Heads of the departments 8. Ensure compliance with legal requirements as per Mines Act, Environmental Act & Occupational Health and Safety Legislation Act as applicable in the country. 9. Develop a strong control environment with the deployment of strategic controls, audits cost cautious culture and other best practices 10. Oversee recruitment for key roles in the mine 2 11. Periodic reporting to the corporate office and senior management to ensure requisite information is fed for organizational-level planning and decision making 12. Liaise with mining authorities and regulatory bodies to ensure statutory compliance such as timely statutory filings, license renewals, mining title management etc. Desired Candidate Profile Skills and Personal Attributes Required: · Strong leadership skills · Focused, target-oriented, and time-bound way of operating. Ability to deliver results · Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders · Confidentiality Minimum Qualifications and Experience: 1. 20 years or more in opencast mining; of which at least 5 years in General Manager or similar position. 2. Overseen commissioning of wash-plant or managed site with multiple plants with a minimum wash capacity of 10,000 tons per day 3. Overseen mining operation with +500 workforce 4. Proven experience and a capability to convert small-scale operating mining to large scale mechanized operation 5. Bachelor of Mining or Mechanical Engineering and Post Graduate qualification in Management will be an added advantage 6. Prior working experience in Africa is preferred 7. Good working knowledge mining, environmental and safety acts
