General Manager

Job Description : GM CHARTERING UAE seeking an experienced dry bulk vessel charterer. The Chartering Manager will have responsibility of chartering vessels in chemicals, petrochemicals, Fertilizers and various Dry Bulk segments as per cargo requirements. There will also be a main focus on developing the flows from China to South-Asia Region. (India, Pakistan etc). This role would be ideal for someone that has medium experience as an independent chartering manager with background from an operator company. The candidate will also be responsible to maintain and develop 3rd party business, both on cargo and tonnage side. In coordination with the other members of the chartering desk to provide services to the internal trading desks. The candidate should be analytical, well-organized and excels in communication. A self-starter with high level of cooperation with other team members. Key Responsibilities · Develop and maintain 3rd party business with focus on China to South Asia, · Ability to make an impact by building and developing strategies from scratch. · Monitoring the shipping process from origin to destination in coordination with Chartering and Operations Department of Owners/ Charterers /Agents · Propose potential business to increase company activity, both cargoes and tonnage · Conclude fixtures with 3rd parties (owners/operators) to cover the internal positions · Mainly; Supramax, Ultramax, and Panamax size of vessel · Negotiation and execution of Spot Chartering, Time Charters (T/Cs) and Contract of Affreightments (COAs) and CVCs as well ability to work independently and under pressure in a fast-paced environment. · Develop contacts with brokers/owners/charterers in the designated area to gain access to all available market positions (vessels/cargoes) · Assist the chartering desk to provide services to the internal trading desks · Provide market updates to enable the internal chartering manager to provide reliable and correct freight quotations for internal trade desks · Liaise closely with operations team on execution of voyages and to ensure efficient performance · Continuously seek the benefits of combining the 3rd party business with the inhouse positions to achieve best possible P&L for all parties · Responsible to conclude all pre-fixture formalities, including onboard new counterparts as per internal compliance guidelines and fully executed Charterparties · Attend relevant meetings internal/external to maintain and increase knowledge/experience of the chartering market and practices · Ensure that the work is carried out in a professional manner and in compliance with applicable contracts and agreements Key Requirements, Skills Experience & Knowledge · The candidate must have experience within the shipping industry and preferably dry bulk with a minimum of 8-12 + years. · The person should be analytical, sets ambitious goals, acts on his/her own initiative within the given authorities · Highly attentive to details and can thrive in a dynamic environment · Ability to manage workload, prioritize tasks and deliver agreed results. · Ability to work under pressure in meeting deadlines · Candidate must be tech savvy with a knowledge of various software · Good communication and interpersonal skills to be able to build a good working relationship with internal and external parties. · International experience working and collaborating in a global working environment · Currently based or willing to relocate to Dubai This role will offer a talented and experienced dry bulk chartering manager the chance to develop their career with a leading shipping / trading company.
