Job Description : CFO UK Salary: £120,000 to £150,000 per annum depending on experience Industry Experience Required: Charity / Not-For-Profit / Education / Housing / Public Sector / NHS Qualification: ACA, ACCA or CIMA essential Duties of the Chief Financial Officer: The CFO will be valued and proactive member of the senior leadership team which supports the Director in further developing and implementing the finance and people strategies. Managing the organisations finances and related systems and processes to the highest standards to promote the organisation’s ongoing financial sustainability. As well as leading and managing all support services including administration, human resources, IT, premises and compliance, overseeing the provision of a high-quality service that meets the needs of the business. Works with the Director to develop and implement the financial strategy for the organisation with a focus on financial sustainability Leads on production of the annual budget and holds responsibility for all budgeting and financial controls Manages the relationship with the external auditors and oversees the statutory audit Ensures robust systems and processes are in place to ensure good financial management of the business, and reviews and develops these on an ongoing basis Leads on the production of the annual accounts, overseeing the work of appropriate professional advisers and ensuring quality and accuracy of information Through the Finance team, accountable and responsible for production of management accounts, statutory accounts, payroll and MI to support the business Direct involvement in production of some of the management accounts and management information where required Reports to the investment committee on the performance of the investments and monitors and mitigates financial risks. Oversee and support the HR Officer to continue to develop and implement HR policies and practices that promote good management practice Oversee the consistent application of policies to address any concerns with performance, conduct or attendance Ensure all grants and projects are appropriately costed and managed Manage the project manager to ensure that all projects have risk-assessed contracts Ensure projects are appropriately costed and prepare MI showing key project-tracking metrics Oversees the development and maintenance of constructive relationships with clients and major funders’ administrative departments to ensure effective contract administration is in place over the course of a project and any issues arising are resolved Requirements of the Chief Financial Officer: Fully qualified accountant (CA, CIMA, ACCA, CIPFA or similar) Solid post qualification experience of: Preparing end of year accounts for audit purposes, preparing comprehensive budgets and cashflow forecasts, strategic financial planning and management and developing and reviewing effective systems and controls Preparing and presenting complex reports to Boards/Committees and/or external organisations Managing complex projects Knowledge of charity finance and grant management, or demonstrable ability and willingness to develop this quickly on the job Detailed knowledge/understanding of current VAT requirements
