10 yearsJob Description : TERMINAL OPERATIONS MANAGER ZANZIBAR TANZANIA To understand and review the Operating Site – existing or New. Understand the local operating structure including Rules, Regulations and Laws applicable if any, envision the Best Operating methodology, & Implement the same to establish the Best and Optimum in world Class Modus Operandi. The above to be achieved in a Safe manner and in alignment with SERDAL HSE standards Key Responsibilities: Core Responsibilities: · Ensure the safety of all personnel operating within the port boundaries through regular monitoring of data and the closing of actions in relation to Accidents and Near Miss reports. This to be applicable for visitors as well. · In support of terminal manager write/adapt/establish procedures/processes to 1. Receive ship booking and cargo stowage plans 2. Plan stevedoring, storage, re-delivery activity 3. Ensure- resources are in place and properly inducted/trained and equipped 4. Issue Works orders 5. Conduct operations maintaining appropriate records re chargeable events, incidents, productivity, outturn 6. Issue invoices and analyse, approve incoming invoices 7. Other processes / procedures necessary to manage safe operations · Be fully conversant with international shipping & port conventions adopted by UAE & the Country the Operations is being conducted in, and ensure they are complied with. · Provide leadership and advise to all personnel and assist them with the delivery of their own objectives as well as customer requirements · Assist with the preparation and delivery of the Operations related financial budget and respond within time frame. · Participate in Establishing Contractor contracts to ensure optimal terms and ensure the terms are followed and budgets maintained. · Carry out regular reviews with direct reports to ensure Operating & financial targets are understood and met. · Ensure that all personnel are fully trained and capable of performing their tasks. Arrange refresher Training for all categories of personnel to ensure they remain up to date with respect to HSE standards as well as Operating Standards and methods · Oversee operational activities and monitor performance of contractors operating within the ports. Ensure all Contractors follow the established Rules, Regulations and HSE requirements. · Regularly review operational processes and carry out remedial actions where required. · In co-operation with own personnel and contractors (if in use) set performance standards for operations basis a World Class Service Delivery. · Facilitate the utilization of Innovative ideas to achieve results. · Ensure that Statutory Laws and Regulations set are rigidly implemented · Co-ordinate and co-operate closely with Coastguard, Water/Port Police, Customs, Immigration, Port Authority, Security and other Maritime related authorities at the operating Location. Also Rail Authorities where needed. · Through involvement with the company environmental team ensure that all requirements with regard to Local and International laws pertaining to the environment are met and fulfill all and any Concession Agreement related clauses · Work closely with Human Resources Unit & HSE to develop and manage both short and long term training programs to ensure that selected candidates receive thorough training in the shipping and ports industries to enable them to operate in enhanced positions in future · Ensure all Terminal Security Requirements are met and adhered to. Report any breaches as per procedure. · Other tasks as may be allocated from time to time by the Management and must be actioned suitably. People Management Responsibilities: 1. Monitor staffs performance, ensuring set targets are achieved with agreed timescales. 2. Develop individuals through coaching and recommending training. 3. Ensuring that all staff adhere to the policies and procedures as laid down in the company guidelines. 4. Complete the required Mid-Year and End Year Reviews with the concerned Line Manager. Strategic Responsibilities: 1. Create and implement plans for the ports based on own initiatives and Management direction. 2. Be the focal point for the delivery of agreed initiatives, assisting with direction and providing leadership. Essential Criteria: 1. Educational and Technical Qualifications: Bachelors /Master degree or equivalent/higher 2. Ports & Shipping industry experience in a similar managerial role 3. Language Skills: Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills (Arabic & English). Other Languages are also Welcome view the International Scope. 4. Years of Experience: 10+ in a Ports Managerial role 5. Nature of Experience: Ports and logistics or shipping is preferred.
