Deputy General Manager
15 yearsJob Description : Deputy General Manager, based in Zambia on a fly in fly out rotation, working for an international Mining operator. Reporting to the General Manager with department head subordinates, the role is to support planning, execution and management of safe and standard operations of the mine. Responsibilities: · SHEQ: Manage health, safety and environmental objectives within the Operations. Manage documentation and records within the Management System. Improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the Mining Management System. Develop, manage and maintain Mining policies and procedures. Conduct audits of the Mining & Safety Management System. Comply with requirements of the Mining Management System · Technical: Administration and overall management of Mining Operations, Production, Planning, Exploration and Engineering · Finance: Manage the Cost of Mining. Prepare and manage the budget. Manage risks in own work/business environment. Develop, lead and drive cost saving and cash conservation initiatives. · Stake Holder Management: Monitor customer satisfaction. Liaise with a range of customers and suppliers, including the GM, other heads of departments and Government Officials. Handle and attend to a range of internal customer enquiries and complaints · Mine management: Manage the Mining & Mineral Resources Department, systems, processes and contractors. Conduct daily meetings with teams to ensure that employees are aware of recent developments within the company and Mining areas. Keep up to date with latest Mining systems, processes and best practices and make suitable recommendations. Analyse and interpret Mining data and take corrective actions as required. Ensure Mining personnel are fully competent to work effectively and safely. Provide effective problem solving support to the Mining team. Plan, organise, lead and control activities in the mining operations · People: Build and maintain a competent and motivated team. Manage Department to achieve work unit objectives. Manage individual and team performance. Mentor individuals to enhance the individuals knowledge, skills, values and attitudes in a selected career path Qualifications and Experience: · Degree in mining or related discipline · 15 years’ work experience in Mining with at least 5 years at senior level · Good computer and communication skills · Excellent analytical and evaluation skills · Good command of both oral and written communication · Possession of good leadership skills · Ability to work with minimum supervision · Knowledge of mining software · Excellent knowledge of the current mining regulations
