Job Description : BUSINESS OPERATIONS MANAGER DJIBOUTI Business Operations Manager to work in our Djibouti (East Africa) office to Support the Packaging Raw Materials Manager in sustaining and growing trading business predominately to the African region & Middle East for plastic resins & other raw materials. The emphasis is on teamwork. The jobholder must work closely with designated operational support staff, documentary and logistics departments, regional rep offices, ensuring a two-way flow of information and maintaining the disciplines to allow effective risk management. Opportunity exists for those who wants to move from sales support and develop business in existing or new markets. Key deliverables (Essential duties and responsibilities) Stock management – maintain and monitor movement of stocks coming into the warehouse and shipments to Ethiopia and other destinations. Liaise with forwarding/shipping agents, local authorities incl customs to ensure goods are shipped as per contractual requirements. To present documents to Bank for payment under Letters of Credit and Documentary Collection basis Contracts management on either SAP / MS Office including generating sales and purchase orders, proforma invoices, maintaining customer database and shipments summary spreadsheets. Report to line manager in an organised and regular manner about developments in the marketplace including activities of competitors and matters relating to the suppliers. A proactive attitude is essential & the job holder must liaise closely to ensure views & comply needs are best met and represented. Since it’s a start-up, initially individual will be expected to Liaise with local authorities / accountants / lawyers to ensure company is setup and registered. Provide weekly stock progress reports detailing stocks in warehouse and all other relevant data. Take an active role in dispute resolution and mitigation of any claims which may from time-to-time arise To expedite contracts through shipment and final out-turn to ensure Longulf’s obligations are filled. To liaise closely with the regional offices, Logistics, Documentary and Accounts team to ensure they are clear about what is required of them and that concerned parties work as a team to achieve the Company’s overall objectives. To acquire knowledge and expertise in relevant geographies and products enabling Longulf to offer informed and timely market intelligence. To seek out trade in relevant products wherever it represents itself within the Divisional remit. Person specification Minimum 10 years prior experience in Trading/Import Export industry essential. Start-up experience preferred but not essential Educated to degree level A confident self-starter who can work autonomously or as part of a team. We are looking for a self-starter who is flexible and creative individual willing to work on its own merits and eager to learn. Knowledge of shipping procedure / documentation / letter of credit essential. Being organised and persistent with the proven ability to generate leads through a range of tools and using your own initiative will help you to identify potential new business opportunities. Being fully IT literate. Strong work ethic and taking responsibility and being accountable for the work they produce. Very strong organisational skills, working to tight deadlines with a strong attention to detail. Be prepared to communicate with regional offices during out of UK office hours due to time difference.
