Job Description : MD AUSTRALIA With a rich history spanning over 20 years, a leading Engineering Infrastructure Advisory firm is seeking to appoint a Managing Director to lead the business through its next chapter of growth, as the incumbent MD transfers into a board role. About the organisation: With an established footprint across Australia, this firm works closely with both government departments and asset operators to ensure the effective management of aged infrastructure across both rail and broader civil networks. As an inspections-led engineering firm, they understand the behaviour of deteriorated assets and approach the provision of renewal advice with both expertise and pragmatism. Their suite of services has grown to include: Structure inspections for rail and civil infrastructure Structure investigations to understand performance, fatigue and load bearing capability of assets with relevant remediation opportunities Design of structure remediation and renewal Project delivery and support to minor and major rail renewal projects About the role: As the business embarks on further growth and a strong pipeline of confirmed work, the focus is now on evolving the delivery of projects to ensure quality standards and profitable outcomes are maintained as both workload and brand grow. Reporting to the Group Managing Director, you will take ultimate responsibility for the leadership of the firm’s advisory and consulting solutions. Specifically, your responsibilities will include: Setting the vision, principles, values, strategic plan and annual business plan of the company, in conjunction with the Board. Setting business goals and assigning targets to business units Providing effective and inspiring operational leadership by developing a broad and deep knowledge of all business activities Delegating responsibilities and supervise the work of direct reports, providing guidance and motivation to drive maximum performance Holding your management team accountable for the delivery of their business plans, commitments, and to ensuring their employees deliver expected results Uncovering and securing business opportunities within the current stakeholder market Alignment and relationship management with key stakeholders including clients and subcontractors Identifying and establishing productive working relationships with relevant government bodies, industry associations and other external stakeholders in a way that enhances the company’s reputation Management of the balance between winning work and the delivery of works at the required quality standard demanded About you: As an experienced leader from the Victorian infrastructure industry, you will assume the role of Managing Director to lead the business with technical nous, drive process improvement, provide the market face of our business, and bring the team on the journey without sacrifice to business culture. Your proven capabilities will include: Extensive, proven leadership experience within an engineering environment Substantial experience working within the Victorian Civil or Rail Infrastructure industry The desire and capability to continue the scaling of an established and successful business Considerable experience operating in an executive role with full P&L responsibilities Outstanding interpersonal skills, with strong presence and the natural ability to build long-lasting relationships with both internal and external stakeholders Strong decision-making skills – open, confident, and persuasive, with excellent presentation and listening abilities The ability to respond resourcefully and constructively to new demands, priorities, and challenges A willingness to travel interstate as required What is on offer: The Board has identified the opportunity to grow the business by a factor of three over the coming decade. As such, the opportunity exists to lead an established and reputable business through a period of substantial growth. A base salary package of between $250,000 and $300,000 is suggested for the role, with annual performance-based incentives to the value of $100,000 p.a available immediately. In addition, profit-share and equity options available once you are established in the role.
