General Manager

Job Description : GM ANGOLA Reporting Head: Country Director, Angola. • This is a leadership position for a medium size industrial production unit for hygiene products (baby diapers, sanitary napkin, toilet and table tissues etc.). The General Manager is supposed to lead from the front. He will be accountable for production, sales and profitability for the entire division. • He would oversee day to day administration, production, planning and control, besides being accountable for sales. · Sales will be a very important part of his assignment and deliverable. He should be able to lead a small team of sales executives, sales assistants for field sales through: (a) dealer/ distributor/ informal markets that is spread across Angola. (b) organized retail; e.g., supermarket chains and large format retails present in Angola, (c) dealer/ distributor/informal channels present in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). · In consultation with the Country director and the management team of the plant; plans, organizes, staffs, leads, and controls all the functions of the plant. · In consultation with the Country Director reviews and studies policies and regulations of the plant and presents any amendments or changes to be made to the Director • In consultation with the management team of the plant evaluates, controls and polishes the different budgets of the plant and submits it to the Director of the plant • In consultation with the Country Director and the Department Managers prepares and submits short, medium, and long-term plans of the plant and submits to the Country Director. · In consultation with the management team of the plant monitors and evaluates the performance of the plant periodically in comparison with the plan and budget set for the period. · In consultation with the Country Director and management team of the plant submits new investment plans and projects to the Country Director · • Introduces new creative and innovative system in the plant to develop products and brands by forming committees from concerned departments and units. • Works for the creation of good public image of the plant through performing good public relations tasks, visits, relationship building etc. · • Prepares and submits formal comprehensive monthly/quarterly and annual reports of the plant to the Country Director, Country Managing Director, The president, and the Group Director · • In consultation with the Country Director and based on the policy of the plant signs agreements and contracts with different suppliers and external parties that concerns the plant · • Supervises and monitors all the activities of the plants tasks including production, banking, finance and accounts, human resource, operation, marketing, and sales etc. · • Plays an active role at country management team level, extends supporting hands and minds at managerial level to the sister companies in Angola. · • Evaluates and monitors that the performance appraisal of the staff of the plant is fairly and timely done · • Attends in official and unofficial government, non-government and other meetings that concerns the plant · • Makes regular and scheduled work visits to supervise the branch offices, suppliers, customers, garages, stores, and sales stations etc. · • Performs other activities assigned by his superior MA Degree in Business Administration, Management or Accounting with more than 10 years of work experience in Hygiene industry · • BA Degree or Diploma in Business Administration, Management or Accounting with more than 15 years of work experience in Hygiene industry · • Graduate in mechanical or chemical engineering with a good experience in related field is also advantageous. · Desired profile of the candidate Ideal candidate should have worked in similar position in a reputed FMCG company, particularly in hygiene segment. Good networking skill is important. Should be a team player. Experience in Africa would be advantage. Should be open to extensive travel. Proficiency in Portuguese and French will be added advantage. Should have extensive experience in a tough market condition. Exp 18-30 years Age 40 55 years
