15 yearsJob Description : TOOL SHOP MANAGER MALAYSIA An exciting Tool Shop Manager job has just become available at one of the global medical device manufacturing firms based in Penang. About the Tool Shop Manager Role: In this role, you will be leading the Tool Shop team and be the main point of contact for key suppliers and vendors as well as internal customers. You are being accountable for activities for operations injection mould tooling, ensuring the efficiency of production to achieve optimum level. Provide technical and organisational leadership to the Tool Shop Group, being accountable for activities for operations injection mould tooling and ensuring that these systems are delivered to manufacturing such that they will perform as intended, able to deliver required output at required efficiency to support business demand Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers of injection mould tooling As required obtain quotations from vendors and place purchase orders for tooling requirements to include new spare parts and repairs to meet business needs Work together with planning group to ensure planning is developed and maintained to implement best practice preventative maintenance activities Identify and qualify new vendors to ensure a continued drive in relation to spares cost reduction Ensure that when required, commissioning and validation activities being undertaken by the engineering group receive Tool Shop support as necessary by providing adequate resource to ensure deadlines are maintained Support engineering group during vendor design reviews so as to ensure robust design for Tooling has been executed for new injection mould tool designs Develop and maintain effective management controls and reporting to monitor and communicate all areas of tool shop group performance Establish and operate Key Performance Indicators for the tool shop group that are aligned to overall business and Division objectives, ensuring KPIs are tracked, achieved and communicated Develop the organisation and function of the tool shop group to support changing business requirements Identify development/training needs for the tool shop group, developing training plans in collaboration with Engineering and HR. Account for the creation and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures and associated guidance documentation related to day-to-day activities Ensure compliance to B. Braun quality system SOPs and Work Instructions Ensure Health and Safety Policies and Environmental Policies are being adhered to at all times Ensure the achievement of agreed personal and team objectives Ensure that the minimum quantity of spare parts in inventory are according to agreed and documented safety quantities and where possible identify opportunities to reduce stock levels As required, make sure that the Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) are executed in the given time frame and that the implemented Change Control System is observed Ensure that all documents of the area of responsibility are kept up to date correctly and are in full compliance with all applicable requirements (SOPs are correctly applied and all concerned personnel is (re)trained) Keep informed about all applicable requirements (GMP, FDA, ISO 9001, ISO 13485, all applicable regulations about work safety, etc.) and to ensure that all operations in your area of responsibility are compliant with these regulations Represent the department and Company in meetings, visits and audits as appropriate The job function listed is not exhaustive and shall also include any responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor from time to time To succeed in the Tool Shop Manager role, you will need to have strong leadership skills as well as a great depth of knowledge in Injection moulding and Tooling matters. Bachelor's degree or with intermediate working experience. Successfully completed recognised apprenticeship in Toolmaking with associated qualifications Minimum of 15 - 20 years' working experience in Toolshop/tool making Extensive experience with min 15 - 20 years in injection mould tooling, maintenance, manufacture Strong team management skills (10+ headcounts) Pro-active approach to daily work activities and highly organised Experience in managing inventory minimum RM5 million and exposure of reduction inventory around RM2.5 million Experience in milling and turning process. Exposure in handling mould 16 - 32 cavities Good exposure of creative ways to reduce inventory Experience in dealing with external vendors and services. Good proficiency in using Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) Thorough knowledge of business practices and procedures in a professional field. Widely applies principles, theories and concepts, and draws on a cumulative knowledge base from previous experiences to determine an appropriate course of action
