Job Summary: The role holder is responsible for the development of overall financial strategy of GMG Food Business and contribute to the development of the organization’s strategic goals. In addition to the strategic components, reporting directly to the Group CFO with dotted line to GMG Food President , the VP will be charged with developing and implementing sophisticated policies and procedures both in the finance and general operational realms. Accountabilities: • Advises the Senior Management team on financial planning budgeting, cash flow, investment priorities, and policy matters. • Advises the President/Vice President and other key members of Senior Management team on financial planning budgeting, cash flow, investment priorities, and policy matters. • Serves as the management liaison to the Board and Audit Committee; effectively communicate and present critical financial matters at select Board of Directors and Committee meetings. • Contributes to the development of group’s strategic goals and objectives as well as the overall management of the organization. • Maintains continuous lines of communication, keeping the senior management team informed of all critical issues on a timely basis. • Represents the organization externally, as necessary, particularly in banking and lease negotiations. Core Responsibilities: • Plans, coordinates, and executes the annual budget process. • Upgrades and implements an appropriate system of policies, internal controls, accounting standards, and procedures. • Ensures that organization is adhering to the strategic plan, delivering status reports to the Board. • Improves administrative and operational accounting services such as treasury management, payment processing, payroll, accounts payable, and purchasing. • Addresses financial issues such as cash management, capital funding (structure) and investment strategies. • Ensures efficient and effective management of finances through all necessary financial controls, systems and processes and ensures accuracy and integrity of the company’s financial records • Leads the delivery of various financial operations activities and ensures that these are in line with the processes, guidelines and standards defined. • Oversees the project finance process and liaises with banks, financial institutions, and any other creditor for arrangement of funds, necessary for project development. • Oversees the design and preparation of the budget forms, models, and templates to be used by divisions/business units/departments in the budgeting process to enhance the budget techniques and procedures • Monitors financial performance versus the budget to ensure awareness of anticipated costs/revenues, excesses/deficits, areas of unsatisfactory performance and potential performance improvement opportunities. • Provides guidance and advice, related to the management of cash flow, cost controls and expenses for different departments identifying potential financial opportunities and weaknesses and recommending corrective actions • Oversee all finance functions including: 1. Accounts receivable activities including issuance of accounts receivable invoices, accounts receivable reconciliations and ageing, accurate recording of collections and accrued revenue 2. Accounts payable activities including processing of accounts payable Invoices, preparation of accounts payable entries, accounts payable reconciliation and aging 3. Inventory recording and monitoring of received and issued items 4. General ledger entries including fixed assets depreciation and disposal, fixed assets reconciliation, pre-payments, accruals, bank reconciliations, provisions, and write-off • Ensures completeness, accuracy and timeliness of all financial reporting including the coordination and completeness of annual audit reviews and ensuring compliance with IFRS and with all legal requirements. • Leads the development of standard models for investment proposal preparation and issues guidelines on analysis/methodologies and parameters, financial scenarios, etc. which aid in informed decision making by the senior management and other relevant stakeholders. • Leads the development and implementation of guidelines, procedures, and policies to detect and prevent the company’s interests against financial risk/frauds/malpractices • Assesses the risks associated with the financial transactions executed and collaborates closely with the CFO on monitoring and implementing them. • Serves as the principal contact with the external audit firm(s) and ensures that they are provided close cooperation and assistance in the discharge of their responsibilities, including all GMG financial statements and reports. • Leads the development and implementation of Tax Policies including Corporation Tax, Zakat and Direct/Indirect Taxes (across applicable territories). People Management: • Oversees, directs, and organizes the work of the finance and operations teams. • Promotes a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality. • Ensures staff members receive timely and appropriate training and development. • Establishes and monitor staff performance and development goals, assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, conduct annual performance appraisals, and administer salary adjustments. • Mentors and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach: assign accountabilities; set objectives; establish priorities; and monitor and evaluate results. • Develops talent within the team by providing guidance, mentoring, and coaching to achieve the defined goals • Drives a culture of feedback and coaching in the Department by providing feedback on an ongoing basis, identifying development needs, and coaching the employees on the areas of improvement. Educational Qualifications and Certificates: • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration, is required • Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration, is preferred • Professional certificate (i.e. CPA, CMA or CA), is required Experience: • Food Manufacturing and Distribution experience within UAE/GCC • A minimum of 15 years of relevant experience across the finance and/or accounting functions, with at least 5 years of leading finance department/function Key Interactions: Internal Interactions: 1.
