Job Description : COUNTRY MANAGER EAST AND CENTRAL AFRICA company is well established in the GCC region having unparalleled expertise in implementing Electrical, Mechanical & Instrumentation projects on turnkey basis, right from Design Development to Erection, Testing, Commissioning and Maintenance services for various Industrial / Infrastructure projects across the Gulf region. The company has it’s own registered offices in UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Oman and has a long and enviable history of delivering projects in “Power and Desalination plants, Airports, Aluminium Smelters, Paper Mills, Water Transmission System & Pumping Stations, Petroleum products, Tank Terminals, Refineries and High Voltage Substations” domains.COUNTRY MANAGER – EAST & CENTRAL AFRICAN REGIONS• The selected candidate will be responsible for business development and overall operations in the projects like Solar PV, Wind Energy and Energy storage sectors covering roles in consulting, research, design, engineering and project operations and development with a strong understanding of international IPP processes, policies and procedures.• Identify new business opportunities - including new markets, growth areas, trends, customers, products and services.• Should have experience in closing large capacity projects in emerging economies and developing across Africa brining in technical, commercial, legal and financial value.• Always on the look out to learn and stay up to date with market trends covering solar PV, onshore wind, storage and gas-to-power.• Get in touch to explore synergies and collaborate on originating, developing, co-owning and operating multi megawatt independent power projects across East & Central African regions.• He/she will be responsible for managing all operations within a country. This involves taking responsibility for profit, revenue, cash and quality targets.• Agreeing annual budgets and producing a detailed annual business operating plan and also have to deliver monthly, quarterly or annual targets for revenue and profits.• Produce business performance reports, which could be on a monthly or quarterly basis.• Recruit and manage staff, including performance monitoring, and possibly mentoring and training.• The role is client facing and so daily contact with clients is a big part of his / her job, therefore the ability to communicate effectively is essential.• He will be required to be based and operate from the Uganda OfficeRequired Qualification & Skills 20+ years experience• Must be educated to Engineering Master degree level or equivalent, preferably with some financial qualifications or training – a solid understanding of budgeting and financial planning is essential as this role involves agreeing annual budgets as well as producing financial reports.• Requires a strong understanding of how a business operates and successful candidates will have a proven track record demonstrating his/her understanding and business acumen.• General management experience is essential for working in this job.• Should have excellent networking skills and able to deliver the highest standards of customer service.• The ability to recruit staff and monitor performance.• Excellent interpersonal skills at all levels, including people-management, leadership and both written and verbal communication skills.• To effectively manage operations, a Country Manager needs to have knowledge and experience of the sector his/her company operates within and must fully understand the products and services provided by the company.• Must be familiar with computer software programs e.g. Word, Excel, power point etc.
