Job Description : PROJECT MANAGER WEST AFRICAN REGION The Project Manager is responsible for providing expertise and direction, including planning, procurement, cost control, engineering, construction, equipment installation and commissioning of the Open Pit Iron Ore Project Jobs Responsibilities: · Supervise the engineering of the project (design of plans for all trades, drafting of specifications, bills of quantities and estimates, execution schedule). · Supervise the procurement of equipment and materials required for the implementation and operation of the project. · Supervise all project execution systems and procedures, generally all required works, including subcontractors and in particular civil engineering, technical installations (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and thermal), logistics, HSE, quality assurance and quality control, etc.) · Supervise the commissioning of the facilities · Set up an organizational structure in collaboration with the general management. · In collaboration with the Human Resources Department, recruit experienced staff for specific positions and delegate responsibilities. · Ensure that the project complies with health, safety, environmental and community regulations and company standards; and ensure that targets for these aspects are met or exceeded. · Develop budgets and monitor their execution. · Manage project risks to achieve predictable results and ensure that risk mitigation is considered in the design, construction and operation of the works and final facilities. · Execute the project in accordance with the specifications, plans, description of work, bill of quantities and estimates, and ensure that multiple consultants and contractors are managed effectively. · Ensure that the project is on time and on budget. In the event of deviations, establish an action plan to correct or communicate the deviation, which will be approved before implementation. · Report on progress and forecasts in a regular and transparent manner using standard practices. · Implement all directions given by the Chief Executive Officer and the Board of Directors Desired Candidate Profile Position: Project Manager (To Head the Exploration & Mining Team) The project is an Open Pit mining operation, for Iron Ore, that will generally consist of a Mining area (mine), Processing plant (crushers and beneficiation), Tailings Storage facility, Waste rock dumps, access roads and ancillary facilities. · Degree in engineering from a professional institution. · Minimum of twenty (20) years of professional experience in managing projects, some of which have a CAPEX of more than US$ 500 million, preferably in the mining industry. · Previous experience in the following areas will be an asset · Experience in an international mining company and in Africa. · Strong proven expertise in the management of major mining projects, particularly in mine site servicing and development. · Aboriginal public consultations and community engagement. · Preparation of preliminary economic assessments, feasibility studies and NI 43-101 technical reports. · Excellent knowledge of the mining industry and project stages, including detailed engineering (preliminary studies), equipment procurement and installation, commissioning, supervision of the mining activity in all its aspects.
