Job summary: Our client seeking an experienced and results-driven professional to join our team as the Head of Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC). In this critical role, you will be responsible for managing the end-to-end project development, budgeting, and installation of commercial and industrial (C&I) solar projects across company's operations in French-speaking West Africa. As the Head of EPC, you will play a key role in expanding our project portfolio and delivering high-quality solar solutions to our clients. Experience in solar power project design, management, and installation, with a focus on African markets, will be highly valuable in this role. Location: Senegal or Ivory Coast Job Responsibilities: Lead and manage the EPC department, overseeing all aspects of project development, budgeting, and installation for commercial and industrial solar projects. Develop and implement strategic plans, policies, and procedures to ensure successful project execution, adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards. Conduct feasibility studies, technical assessments, and due diligence to identify suitable sites and assess project viability. Collaborate closely with the business development team to assess client requirements, prepare proposals, and develop cost-effective and innovative solar solutions. Manage the entire project lifecycle, from design and engineering to procurement, construction, and commissioning, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices. Oversee project budgets, financial forecasting, and cost control measures to optimize project profitability. Introduce relevant international standards, such as ISO 50001, as well as health, safety, and environment (HSE) related standards and ensure that projects meet international standards during execution. Develop and maintain strong relationships with contractors, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of materials and services. Monitor and track project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation measures to ensure successful project delivery. Coordinate with relevant stakeholders, including regulatory authorities, utilities, and local communities, to secure necessary permits, licenses, and grid connections. Provide technical expertise and guidance to the project team, ensuring adherence to design specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations. Stay updated on the latest technologies, and trends in the solar power industry, with a specific focus on the African market, and incorporate relevant advancements into project planning and execution. Qualifications and Skills: Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably electrical or renewable energy-related. A master's degree is preferred. Proven experience in the design, project management, and installation of solar power projects, with a focus on commercial and industrial applications. Strong knowledge of solar photovoltaic systems, energy storage technologies, and electrical systems design. Familiarity with relevant ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) certifications and frameworks to ensure project sustainability and alignment with responsible business practices. Demonstrated leadership and management skills, with the ability to effectively lead and motivate a diverse team. Excellent project management abilities, with a track record of successfully delivering complex projects on time and within budget. In-depth understanding of EPC processes, including feasibility studies, procurement, construction, and commissioning. Solid financial acumen, with experience in budgeting, financial forecasting, and cost control. Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to effectively engage and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels. Familiarity with the regulatory and permitting requirements for solar projects in African markets, particularly French-speaking West Africa. Fluency in English (both written and spoken) is required. Proficiency in French and/or local languages is a plus.
