15 yearsJob Description : OPERATIONS DIRECTOR CALGARY CANADA The role requires outstanding organizational, communication, and leadership skills, and an ability to develop innovative programs resulting in increased organizational effectiveness and financial performance. Reporting to the President, you will: Lead the team to Manufacturing excellence – taking the Canadian manufacturing plant to the next level of performance and profitability. Translates customer requirements, via the engineering and design process, into manufacturing strategies and processes, resulting in cost-effective and profitable manufacturability. Develop operations-related plans, capacity, budgets, infrastructure, policies, and procedures Working with the Canadian heads for Sales, Supply Chain, and Finance, oversee the successful execution of projects in Canada (on-budget and on-time delivery) to ultimately achieve Revenue and EBITDA targets. Be a champion in the continuous improvement of processes and policy to make project execution more efficient and to eliminate bottlenecks. Set goals, establishes priorities, manage resources, improve technologies, develop concepts and approaches, review projects progress and results; resolve problems in conjunction with peers and senior managers; make management decisions. Oversee, develop, and coach direct reports as they implement plans and procedures, which meet corporate goals and customer needs. Working with all Senior Managers, drive accountability and continuous improvement in process both in operations and across the project lifecycle. Working with direct reports to establish succession plans in each of their responsible areas. Candidate experience and skills: 15+ years of progressive experience in project-based, custom engineering and heavy manufacturing. A strong preference for those with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, and ideally complemented with a secondary or graduate degree in Business Administration. Exposure to Industrial fabrication, welding and welding integrity would be considered an asset. Possess strong leadership and demonstrated ability to drive performance, build teams consisting of direct reports and indirect managers. Experience in estimating, change management, strategic planning, project management, and P&L. Apply broad engineering (including effective use and understanding of engineering drawings), production, and operations management principles and practices. Experience managing within a unionized environment, including Collective Bargaining. Demonstrated understanding of extended supply chain, including domestic purchasing best practices as well as working with international vendors (China, India, Korea). Strong financial management skills, including budgeting cost accounting. Proficient with excel reporting and analysis tools.
