Country Director

Job Description : COUNTRY DIRECTOR NIGERIA he company is a growing agriculture company forming part of a larger private equity company. About the role: This role requires extensive travelling to Minna. As the country Director you will manage all operations in Nigeria. Develop a long-term vision for serving over 1 million farmers by 2030, working with senior leaders both locally and globally. Rally the team behind the vision and gain support for the program through a vision document, financial model, and OKRs. Oversee all field programs and ensure annual targets are met through a deputy. Revise strategies and operations to achieve both impact and financial results. Focus on financial sustainability and ensure the program breaks even within the next 5 years. Identify and mitigate near-term and long-term risks that could hinder goal achievement, working with deputies and other leaders. Manage back-end systems and deploy new processes to reduce costs and improve execution. Ensure robust systems and controls are in place to support rapid growth with minimal risk of leakage and fraud. Lead new investments in technology to expand programs, enhance data quality, and simplify operations. Directly manage a team of 3-6 deputies overseeing program execution, systems, people, and expansion. Invest in the development of deputies and rising leaders within the team. Strengthen recruitment capacity to accommodate the expected workforce tripling in size in the coming years. Prioritise investments in team development and culture, including creating new development programs and fostering a positive working environment. Supervise external relationships, including government and partnership work streams, and strengthen strategic relationships across the country. More than 10 years of professional experience with a focus on rural development exposure. More than 7 years of experience in managing senior staff. Proven track record of producing results. Experience in launching new investments or forming successful partnerships. Possesses a vision and the ability to identify opportunities and suitable partners. Skilled in coaching other leaders. Excellent collaborator and team member with the ability to engage with various stakeholders, from rural farmers to high-level executives. Strong communication skills to interact with executives and leaders from other organisations. Capable of developing high-level strategies and detailed operational plans in collaboration with others. Effective in achieving results in a dynamic and fluid work environment. Familiarity with working with budgets and financial models. Comfortable using data to inform decision-making. Proficient in identifying and addressing risks with thoughtful mitigation strategies. Holds a university or advanced degree in relevant fields.
