Group Head

Job Description : GROUP HEAD OF PROCURMEENT AND SUPPLY CHAIN WEST AFRICA a listed mining company with multiple operations in West Africa. This position will have some subordinates, deal with all internal supply chain site-based personnel and executive management team, reporting directly to CFO. The client is targeting Francophone candidates for this role. The Group Head Supply Chain & Procurement is to drive tactical and strategic change throughout all aspects of procurement, warehousing and logistics: Implementing and managing key contractual relationships and performance outcomes and the development of world class policies and procedures for the business; Optimise inventory management; Manage a budget of approx. 500M USD across the Group; Ensure department activities remain within budget and that exceptions are highlighted and discussed with the relevant parties as required; Ensure Corporate Governance and Compliance. Responsibilities: · Meet required daily and monthly safety submissions as well as corresponding action plans · Manage world-class safety standards through the supply chain · Manage leave roster to maintain 100% coverage on the supply chain operation. · Control monthly labour expenditure within the agreed budget · Control monthly absenteeism and overtime expenditure within the agreed budget · Control monthly contractors cost within the agreed budget · Generate and implement continuously cost saving initiatives · Ensure turning PR to PO in agreed deadline · Ensure compliance with Malian and Senegalese law regarding importation · Ensure compliance for contracts · Ensure inventory accuracy · Oversee time to qualify a new supplier in agreed deadline · Permanently control the documented performance metrics for all suppliers/vendors (in terms of cost/price, quality, delivery requirements, reputation, long-term relationship, quality of information sharing, right technology, warranty, responsiveness and flexibility, etc.) · Administer weekly/monthly training to ensure department team is comfortable with policies, programmes and procedures · Achieve zero cost of penalties for violating the country’s import/Export regulations Requirements: Qualification and Skill · Relevant Bachelor’s degree with post graduate specialist qualification preferred · Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or equivalent preferred · Lean Six Sigma and/or Supply Chain Operations Reference Modelling certification an advantage · Minimum of 15 years’ relevant experience, at least some of which has been gained in a listed company, preferably in the resources sector or alternatively in a top tier professional services firm · Strong communication, organisation and personnel skills, strong analytical capabilities, sound business sense, advanced documentation skills with high attention to detail. · French / English language skills essential · Proven management of value chain or procurement spend and on complex strategic, technical, political and logistical challenges in remote locations · Strong exposure to West Africa in multiple countries · Proven experience in developing and executed contractor performance management, supplier relationship management and category management · Experienced in shaping commercial negotiations and managed these successfully with proven savings and improvements · Proven international experience and has led and mentored multi-site, multi-cultural teams · Experience with organisational change management Benefits and Contractual information: · Competitive management package on offer · Will involve travel to both sites · Based at offices in either Bamako or Dakar
