Finance Head 

Job Description : HEAD OF STRATEGIC FINANCE MALAYSIA ( OPEN TO EXPATS) An exciting Head of Strategic Finance job has just become available at one of the most respected global banking firms based in Kuala Lumpur. Reporting directly to the CFO, this is a role for a leader in their field. About the Head of Strategic Finance Role: The Head of Strategic Finance is entrusted to provide meaningful and insightful financial analysis/commentary to the key stakeholders on a timely and appropriate manner. The role holder is responsible to ensure all reporting, analysis, commentary and/or advice provided to the stakeholders takes into account the position of the bank as a Developmental Financial Institution (“DFI”) and in line with the respective Bank Negara Malaysia (“BNM”) guidelines, accounting standards, and other regulators when required. The job scope covers responsibilities and strategic initiatives/review at Group level which includes the Bank and its subsidiaries. Key Responsibilities: Manage financial simulation for strategic planning of the Bank which may consist of new accounting standards, updated asset pricing methodology/processes, new methodologies for process/system/product enhancements, new product developments, new departmental initiatives which aligns with Bank’s strategic plan, new directives from BNM/MOF, etc. Handle management reporting which includes monthly/quarterly/ad hoc reporting to all stakeholders, i.e. Management Committee, Board Committee, Board of Directors, Bank Negara Malaysia (“BNM”), Ministry of Finance (“MOF”) and any other Ministries which are related to administration of government support schemes. The analysis shall provide meaningful Financial insight to the readers Manage quarterly forecasting for expected full-year financials considering the impact of loan/financing provisioning, market movements (e.g. OPR rate movements or any other macroeconomic variable which may change market sentiment and risk appetite), and BNM/MOF directives. The exercise shall provide impactful insight to the stakeholders in determining the bank’s financial direction Manage MFRS 9 functions related to monthly ECL calculation, Financial Impact Assessment (“FIA”) as requested by Corporate Banking/Credit Risk for the Management/Board Committee and any discussion/project related to MFRS 9 numbers/processes. This also includes continuous monitoring of high-risk accounts (with assistance of corporate banking and credit risk) which may drive the bank’s ECL writeback/charges during the year Manage financial system which includes Finance One (“F1”) system as the core GL system for the bank. This is to ensure the core banking system is running appropriately and produces accurate and timely report for financial closing process Handle capital management to ensure the bank meets the minimum required capital and liquidity ratios set by BNM in all proposed simulation/action/strategy Manage asset liability management which includes calculation of the monthly COF/BLR/BFR and propose new COF/BLR/BFR when required, i.e. upon OPR hike or any other change in macroeconomic variable which may impact Bank’s profitability and/or risk appetite Continuously engage with inter-department teams and timely/proper reporting and update to the relevant Management Committee, Board Committee and ultimately Board of Directors Properly update and communicate with the team leads under the role holder’s purview to ensure transparency and timely update of information/expectations Manage external stakeholders Establish/maintain good rapport with the regulators and external consultants/auditors. This includes MOF, BNM, LHDN, RMCD, etc. Establish proper processes and guidelines related to MFRS 9, Asset Liability Management, Management Reporting, Budgeting/Forecasting, Capital Management and Asset Liability Management Initiate and establish proper processes with other Divisions as and when required. This is to ensure the bank’s financial processes and procedures is maintained in proper good governance Assess gaps between internal system and regulatory requirements and drive system improvement based on findings Ensure self and team members are always up to date with the latest industry knowledge related to Banking, Finance, Accounting, Auditing, ALM, Capital Management and Investments Manage goals and key performance indicators for team members and ensuring effective implementation of the BPMB performance management process
