Position Overview: The Financial Controller will assume a pivotal role in safeguarding the financial health and stability of the retail operations in Den Bosch. This role encompasses managing financial reporting, analysis, budgeting, and forecasting. The insights provided by the Financial Controller will be integral to offering well-informed recommendations to senior management, influencing strategic decision-making, and shaping the company's financial strategies. Key Responsibilities: - Financial Reporting: You will be responsible for preparing accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. It is essential to ensure strict adherence to relevant accounting standards and regulations. - Budgeting and Forecasting: Collaborating closely with department heads, you will assist in formulating annual budgets and forecasts. You will continuously monitor performance against budgeted targets and provide comprehensive variance analysis. - Financial Analysis: You will delve into financial data and trends to identify opportunities for cost savings, revenue enhancement, and process improvements. These insights will be translated into actionable recommendations for effective decision-making. - Cash Management: Overseeing cash flow and managing working capital to maintain optimal liquidity levels will be a critical responsibility. Strategies to proactively mitigate potential cash flow risks will also be devised. - Internal Controls: Establishing and maintaining robust internal controls to safeguard company assets, ensure accurate financial reporting, and remain compliant with regulatory requirements will be paramount. - Financial Strategy: Collaborating with senior management, you will contribute to developing financial strategies aligned with the company's overarching objectives. This will involve actively participating in the formulation and execution of strategic growth initiatives. - Audit Coordination: Coordinating external audits and ensuring the timely and accurate provision of necessary financial information will be essential. The Financial Controller will address audit findings and drive the implementation of corrective actions as required. - Team Collaboration: Effective collaboration with cross-functional teams to gather financial data, provide valuable financial insights, and support various business initiatives will be expected. - Process Improvement: Continuously identifying opportunities to optimize financial processes, streamline reporting procedures, and enhance overall efficiency will be crucial. - Risk Management: Conducting thorough assessments of financial risks and developing strategies to mitigate potential exposures will be a key responsibility. Staying informed about industry trends, regulations, and best practices will be necessary to maintain a proactive approach. - A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is required. A Master's degree or relevant professional certification will be considered a distinct advantage. - Proven experience (15+ years) in financial control, reporting, and analysis within the retail industry or a closely related sector. - A solid understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, and reporting standards is expected. - Proficiency in financial modelling, budgeting software, and advanced MS Excel skills is necessary. - Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, coupled with meticulous attention to detail, are crucial. - Effective communication skills to convey complex financial insights to non-financial stakeholders are paramount. - The candidate should have the capacity to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and consistently meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. - Prior experience with ERP systems and financial software will be highly advantageous. - Fluency in English (Dutch is a plus)
