Plant Manager

Job Description : PLANT MANAGER – PLASTICS SOUTHERN AFRICA Major national plastics packaging company is seeking an experienced Plant Manager. Requirements: • BSc / BEng Mechanical / Mechatronics Engineering • 15 years Production / Plant Management experience essential • Plastic injection moulding experience highly advantageous • Manufacturing and Production experience in Packaging or FMCG a plus • Intermediate Excel and ability to work with numbers and people Reporting to the Operations Manager, the successful applicant will be responsible for the following outputs: • Achieving production efficiencies of at least 85% • Managing raw materials, packaging and finished goods stock • Managing the maintenance and service of machinery and moulds • Implementing measurable technical and process developments and improvements • Ensuring customer satisfaction • Ensuring internal customer satisfaction • Implementing and maintaining ISO 9001 quality system • Achieving quality manufacturing requirements • Developing a budget for production in conjunction with the Operations Manager • Managing budget in terms of labour, materials, maintenance/repairs and packaging • Recruiting and selecting staff • Managing individual and team performance • Managing workplace climate • Ensuring a safe working environment • Ensuring proper housekeeping Personal Characteristics: • A sense of urgency • High attention to detail • Ability to handle complexity (multiple challenges simultaneously) • Hands on individual • Strong technical and problem-solving aptitude • A proven track record of managing a team of Artisans and/or Engineers
