Job Description : GM AUTOMATION ZURICH SWITZERLAND Open to candidates worldwide General Manager Automation for an international group that provides engineering, design, fabrication, installation, start-up, and commissioning services for bulk materials handling systems, processing plants, and port facilities globally. They cater to a diverse client base in industries such as aluminium, power generation, mineral processing, cement, steel, and metal recycling. The department Automation, Electrical Systems offers services and products to both internal and external customers and other subsidiaries of the group in 4 locations worldwide. The General Manager Automation is accountable for the relevant activities in those 4 locations. Key Responsibilities: • Ensuring compliance with HSEQ requirements. • Providing electrical services & automation to other departments and Environmental Control Solutions. • Ensuring timely and budgeted project completion. • Procuring automation and electrical equipment. • Offering sales support during offer preparation and negotiation. • Delivering gross margin according to budget. • Continuously improving business practices (e.g., Theory of constrains, Critical Chain, Design to cost exercises). • Developing strategy and R&D support to create competitive equipment and systems, including Industry 4.0 and IOT. • Staffing the department to enable future growth. • Executing marketing and project execution of electrolysis cell control systems. Skills & Experience: • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering. • MBA – desirable. • A minimum of 10 years of practical experience in Electrical Engineering. • Experience in the design of electrical systems, including Automation (PLC, HMI, SCADA), low voltage systems (motor control and distribution system), medium voltage systems. • Management skills to lead and motivate a group of highly qualified technical experts. • Experience as a project manager of large industrial projects, sound knowledge of procurement and contract administration, experience in negotiations of contracts with clients and suppliers. • Exposure to foreign cultures and willingness to travel worldwide. • Essential languages: German and English; desirable language: French.
