Senior Contracts Engineer

Job Description : SENIOR CONTRACTS ENGINEER NIGERIA 20+ years experience The selected candidate will have the valuable opportunity to be a member of the Contracts Management Team in Lagos, Nigeria. Our company is constructing our plants, including a refinery, LNG manufacturing plant, Fertilizer (Urea and ammonia) plant, mining operations, and mineral refining facilities. To accomplish these projects, we are collaborating with EPCM (Engineering, Procurement, Construction Management) contractors. As a member of our team, your core responsibility will be to support one of the teams in managing subcontractors for Mechanical, Electrical & Instrumentation, Civil, and service works related to these projects. You will work closely with various contractors and subcontractors involved in executing these contracts. Your prime tasks will involve contract drafting, finalization, and the ongoing monitoring of post-award activities. You will play a vital role in ensuring contractors meet all contractual obligations and resolve any issues faced by contractors or subcontractors throughout the implementation phase of the projects. The Contracts Management Team reports directly to the various project managers overseeing the contracting activities. This reporting structure facilitates effective coordination between the Contracts Management Team and the project teams, enabling seamless communication and efficient problem-solving. To excel in this role, you should possess a comprehensive understanding of contract management principles and practices. Your skills in contract drafting and negotiation will be instrumental in developing robust and comprehensive agreements that align with the objectives of each project. Additionally, your ability to closely monitor and track contractual obligations, proactively identify potential issues, and skillfully resolve any disputes that may arise will significantly contribute to the success of the projects. The projects you will be involved in are of paramount importance, being part of the construction of critical infrastructure. Preferred candidate profile Academic Background: The candidate should hold a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or Instrumentation Engineering. Subcontracting Experience: The candidate must have relevant experience in managing subcontracting activities. Construction Site Related Contracts handled: The candidate should demonstrate a successful track record in handling construction site-related contracts, including civil construction contracts and various mechanical works such as structural fabrication, erection, piping fabrication, piping erection, enabling works at the site, and pipeline laying. Industry Awareness: The candidate should possess a strong understanding and experience in handling site works for projects in the oil and gas industry. Companies Exposure: The candidate should have exposure to companies involved in oil and gas construction projects. Exposure to Site Procurement: The candidate should be familiar with site procurement processes. Years of site-related contracts: The candidate should have a significant number of years of experience in handling site-related contracts.
