Haulage Manager

Job Description : HAULAGE OPERATIONS MANAGER EAST AFRICA 12+ years experience · Plan and coordinate all cane harvesting and transport operations to ensure cane delivery to the factory within 48 hours of cane cutting. · Prepare and ensure adherence to effective cane harvesting program in consultation with Agriculture Manager. · Oversee preparation and adherence of the cane cutting and transport program. · Ensure strict observance of cane harvesting practices with quality and timely execution and within transport regulations and specifications. · Liaise with factory personnel to ensure delivery of adequate cane and quality in milling cane for optimal utilization of crushing capacity. · Ensure availability of vehicles for supervision and labor. · Prepare and control the budget for the department. · Prepare and sign contracts with cane harvesting and transport contractors. · Liaise with farm managers for field condition and other stakeholders such as road maintenance department, irrigation department representatives and other stakeholders for smooth running of Harvest and Haulage operations. · Checks and approves the records and invoices for harvesting and haulage contractors. · Provide technical leadership to multidisciplinary teams to enable them develop, implement and evaluate strategic management plans and budgets aimed at improving performance standards and organizational effectiveness. · Develop and implement strategies for creating a high performing organizational culture based on transparency, integrity, accountability, performance measurement and results to ensure that program activities are undertaken on sound management principles and practices. · Participate in the recruitment and selection of staff in order to ensure that the candidates selected have the required job competencies and are provided with orientation and induction program necessary for effective job performance. · Ensure that all workers have and utilize the appropriate PPE, follow safety rules and regulations in line with company policies. · Review incidents of violations against organizational policy and regulations as well as handle employee disputes and take appropriate action in line with approved policies and procedures. · Strong Relationship building, collaboration, communications and interpersonal skills · Strong leadership with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills · Strong planning and resource organizing skills. · Competence in ICT, MS Project management and communication. · Ability to track and manage fast changing operations and priorities. · Reporting and communication skills · Ability to take appropriate decisions and provide guidance, under a demanding environment. · Leadership should be able to motivate and drive performance culture, in a multi-cultural and multi-national work force environment.
