Technical Director

Job Description : TECHNICAL DIRECTOR DRC The job entails working on plant site with local teams to coordinate project activities, to guide all teams with technical knowledge and complete the project in time with industry leading standards and practices. Lead the projects team, to implement and manage all programs, on-site. ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURE: • Position reports to the general management. • Subordinates include the entire projects team-based Republic of Congo, including non-technical support staff. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Project Execution and Coordination: Monitoring and reviewing information from materials, events, or the environment, to detect or assess problems. Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects. Study blueprints or manufacturers' manuals to determine correct installation or operation of machinery. Demonstrate equipment functions and features to machine operators. Estimate production costs, cost saving methods, and the effects of product design changes on expenditures for management review, action, and control. Plan and establish sequence of operations to fabricate and assemble parts or products and to promote efficient utilization. Analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine standards and establish quality and reliability objectives of finished product. Confer with clients, vendors, staff, and management personnel regarding purchases, product and production specifications, manufacturing capabilities, or project status. Communicate with management and user personnel to develop production and design standards. Complete production reports, purchase orders, and material, tool, and equipment lists. PERSONNEL: Monitor and manage the performance of all staff, and be a mentor as may be necessary from time to time. Arrange training and staff development opportunities, to ensure that all staff members remain motivated and are able to continually improve their skills base. ADMIN & FINANCE: Manage all aspects of the smelting business, to comply with local laws and corporate policies and procedures (includes all tenement management, and negotiation with local land owners). Monitor and manage project expenditures, on a monthly basis, and ensure compliance with approved budgets. SAFETY: Lead by example to promote safety awareness and compliance with all safety-related policies and procedures. Investigate any incidents, to ensure that lessons learned are captured and circulated to all relevant parties. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Education, Experience • M.Sc. or equivalent engineering (mechanical/electrical/metallurgy/industrial) degree with a strong smelting industry background, with a minimum of 15 years experience in the smelting business with some experience at a managerial level. • The candidate must be fluent in English (the French language will be a plus) • Hands-on experience of smelting furnace, with good knowledge in metallurgy and statutory compliances related to smelting, QC and environmental compliance. • A previous role in Africa is preferred, though is not essential. • Candidate must have executed at least two ferro alloys projects from planning till production. • Should have in-depth knowledge of SAF furnace and all related equipment. Also must be capable to engage vendors to suitably get design, execute and manage the whole team of project.
