Job Description : GM OPERATIONS LAGOS, NIGERIA Required Skill Set § Bus Scheduling § Bus Planning § Usage of Intelligence Transport System § Fleet Management § Analytics § Transport Operations (Management of Minimum of 500 Buses) Relevant Industry Transportation Job Description / Responsibilities Develop and implement operational strategies to support the attainment of corporate goals, including the management of operational budgets and transport infrastructures. Provide professional advice and guidance on contemporary transport practices, towards optimizing fleet performance. Work with staff, senior management and executives to identify emerging operational issues and needs; develop and implement approaches to address them. The Head of Operations will provide program oversight, ensure that all vehicles in use are in compliance with specifications and that proper procedure, operations' manual and policies, as well as state regulations are followed. Develop Operations Budget, Performance Measurement Output Indicators comprising but not limited to Bus Performance Management, Cost/Revenue/Kilometer per bus ratio, staff bus/ratio measurement, Bus Capacity Utilization Analysis, etc and monitor same for the efficiency of operations Liaison with the maintenance unit and ensure that buses available for operations are deployed. Develop service frequencies and schedules and communicate same to the Busmen Management companies for the supply of busmen for the deployment of buses on the corridor. Implement Transport policy approved by the management. Propose improvements in the transport operations. Plans, schedules, and directs the operations of all buses; develops and maintains effective safety and performance standards, policies, and procedures; assures accuracy of shop and parts inventories; develops and oversees operation budget. Communicate with contractors, personnel and outside organizations to coordinate activities and programs, resolve issues and conflicts and exchange information. Operate and maintain computerized network tracking system; track and review vehicles, shop labour, fuels, and vehicle utilization; review and analyze utilization documentation. Recommend for re--training and re--certification of busmen and registration and re-- certifications of vehicles. Interprets and applies regulatory requirements associated with bus operation and assure compliance with local, state, and federal requirements. Laison with the Union and all relevant bodies on the corridor to ensure smooth operations. The Head of Operations is responsible for all functions of the transit system and its facilities, establishes objectives, sets schedules, determines service levels and makes recommendations for required improvements. Design and implement performance standards and operations plan for daily operations of the buses and crew. Design and implement weekly/monthly crew/fleet roaster for the operations and deployment of busmen and buses. Ensure discipline in the art and behavior of busmen at the depot as well as on transit.
