Job Description : GM ANGOLA FOR STEEL The General Manager will be responsible and accountable for driving the strategic initiatives for achieving the business goals through day-to-day operations of the plant. It oversees all aspects of plant operations, production management, sales and marketing, Finance, HR & administration, and strategic planning. MAIN JOB RESPONSIBILITIES / KRAs Strategic Planning · Formulating, developing, and implementing annual business plan and yearly business strategies to ensure attainment of revenue goals and profitable sell-through. · Proposing long-term site strategic plans to the Board and members by identifying long & short-term goals for the factory for getting positive results in manufacturing practices, materials management and inventory control, delivery & quality of product. Plant Operations: · Provide leadership and direction for all plant operations, including production processes, equipment maintenance, quality control, and safety protocols. · Optimize production efficiency, minimize downtime, and ensure timely delivery of products to meet customer demand. · Implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational performance and maximize productivity. · Implement lean manufacturing principles and quality management systems to optimize production processes and ensure product quality. · Lead cross-functional teams to drive process improvements, cost reductions, and operational efficiencies. Sales and Marketing: · Develop and implement sales strategies to drive revenue growth and expand market presence. · Collaborate with the sales team to identify new business opportunities, negotiate contracts, and maintain strong customer relationships. · Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer feedback to inform strategic decision-making. HR, General Administration and Accounts: · Improving team morale through different measures and establishing a cohesive team environment; facilitating team development in line with business objectives. · Provide leadership and oversight for plant administration, accounting, and financial management functions. · Develop and monitor budgets, financial forecasts, and performance metrics to track progress and identify areas for improvement. · Governing CAPEX investment projects as per the internal & external guidelines including CAPEX applications, budgeting, project organization set-up, progress reporting, value engineering execution, compliance and commissioning. Quality & Regulatory Management Systems · Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, environmental standards, and occupational health and safety regulations. · Strive for Achieving highest Quality standards in the Steel Industry within the given set up. KEY JOB DELIVERABLES / ACCOUNTABILITIES / KPIs a) Achievement of Top line and Bottom line as per Annual budget. b) Cost Controlling and Optimizations c) Manpower Rationalization d) Achieving a nearly Zero accident Workplace. e) Quality Certifications, continuous improvement initiatives and achievement against benchmarked figures for Steel industries worldwide. f) Minimizing Yield Loss and improving the Capacity Utilization. g) Learning and Development initiatives and execution. PERSON SPECIFICATION Academic : BE/ B. Tech (preferably Metallurgical) plus MBA (operations / marketing) Experience : At least 18-20 years from Steel Industry out of which last 5 7 yrs. must be from a leadership Techno Commercial role with a P&L Responsibility. Knowledge : Steel TMT bar manufacturing process from Scrap, Induction Furnace, AOD, Oxygen plant operations, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen etc. Knowledge of Techno commercial & Financial aspects of a plant: Understanding of P&L Statement and analyzing MIS statements. Knowledge of statistical and mathematical principles. Skills/ Abilities : Excellent communication skills, presentation, verbal and written. Analytical Skills. Leadership skills. RELATIONSHIPS Reports to : Chaimran (through) Management Committee Supervises : Plant / Operations Manager, Sales Team.
