Job Description : General Manager SOUTH AFRICA - Steel Manufacturing Plant Job Overview: We are seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager to oversee our TMT & Structural Steel Manufacturing Plant. The General Manager will be responsible for leading all aspects of plant operations, including production, quality control, safety, maintenance, and personnel management. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, in-depth knowledge of steel manufacturing processes, and a proven track record of driving operational excellence. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement strategic plans to optimize plant performance, meet production targets, and enhance profitability. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline processes, reduce costs, and maximize efficiency. Production Management: Oversee all aspects of steel manufacturing operations, including raw material procurement, processing, and finished product delivery. Ensure adherence to production schedules, quality standards, and regulatory requirements. Quality Control: Establish and maintain rigorous quality control measures throughout the manufacturing process. Implement quality assurance programs to uphold product quality and customer satisfaction. Safety and Compliance: Champion a culture of safety and compliance within the plant. Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and industry standards. Maintenance and Asset Management: Develop preventive maintenance programs to optimize equipment reliability and minimize downtime. Manage capital projects and investments to enhance plant capabilities and capacity. Financial Management: Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reports. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and take proactive measures to achieve financial targets. Team Leadership and Development: Provide strong leadership to plant personnel, people management, fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and excellence. Recruit, train, and develop talent to build a high-performing and motivated workforce. Qualifications and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Metallurgy, or related field; advanced degree or MBA preferred. · Thorough understanding of TMT and structural steel manufacturing processes, equipment, and technologies. · Proven track record of driving operational excellence, improving productivity, and achieving cost savings. · Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. · Ability to make sound decisions under pressure and lead cross-functional teams effectively. · Familiarity with relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. · Experience with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies is desirable.
