Job Description : Finance Controller Location: Lusaka, Zambia Company: Energy Sector , Overview: We are seeking highly qualified candidates for the position of Finance Controller within our esteemed energy sector company based in Lusaka, Zambia. As a Finance Controller, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing financial activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and providing strategic financial guidance to optimize the company's performance. Responsibilities: Financial Planning and Analysis: Develop and maintain financial models to support strategic decision-making processes. Analyze financial data and provide insights to facilitate effective resource allocation and budgetary planning. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial metrics to assess the company's financial health and performance. Financial Reporting and Compliance: Oversee the preparation and timely submission of accurate financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements and international accounting standards. Liaise with external auditors and regulatory authorities to facilitate audits and compliance reviews. Budget Management: Collaborate with department heads to develop annual budgets and forecasts aligned with organizational objectives. Monitor budgetary performance and variance analysis, identifying areas for cost optimization and efficiency improvements. Implement effective cost control measures to mitigate financial risks and achieve budget targets. Risk Management: Identify financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them effectively. Establish internal controls and procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity. Conduct regular risk assessments and recommend corrective actions to address emerging risks. Team Leadership and Development: Lead and mentor a team of finance professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous learning. Provide guidance and support to team members, promoting their professional growth and development. Foster effective cross-functional collaboration and communication to achieve departmental and organizational goals. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; MBA or professional certification (e.g., ACCA, CPA) is preferred. Proven experience (minimum 5 years) in a senior finance role, preferably within the energy sector or related industries. Strong understanding of financial principles, regulatory requirements, and accounting standards. Proficiency in financial modeling, budgeting, and financial analysis. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide strategic insights.
