15 yearsJob Description : Business Unit Head UGANDA Reporting to: Board of Directors Duty station: Namanve/Mukono Major purpose of the position: To provide leadership of the Organization with the strategic objective of delivering shareholders value in form of effective implementation of the agreed to business plan from time to time. Major Responsibilities and Deliverables: (i) To provide leadership as Chief Operations Officer charged with overseeing the management of all functions of the business that entail among others production, human capital management, sales and marketing, engineering and related services and company assets management. It is understood that some support services are common and shared. Such include supply chain management, stores and logistics management and others; (ii) To lead the Organization in a sustainable manner taking into account shareholder interests that must be well balanced with statutory obligations that relate to the nature of the business that the Company is involved in; (iii) To manage and administer the activities, programs and or projects of the Company in line with the approved Business Plan and or guidance as from time to time availed by the Board of Directors of the Company; (iv) To periodically up-date the Board of Directors of the Company about the activities and progress of business processes; from time to time. In this context, MIS Reports shall be prepared in line with formats already standardized for this purpose or those that shall be standardized and approved for that purpose. (v) To locate, establish, maintain and promote strategic collaborations with Government Ministries Departments and Agencies, Donor Agencies, Multilateral Organizations, Advocacy Groups, Private Sector bodies, Diplomatic Missions with the view to promoting the interests of the Company (vi) To manage the operations of the Company, including but unlimited to: ? Being responsible for Strategic Business Planning, Managing Day-to-Day operations and responsible for Profitability of the Agriculture Business Unit; ? Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate the company?s business units, vision, mission and overall strategy; ? Preparation of Annual Business Plan & Budget for the Unit, oversee and monitor the income and expenses, sales and marketing, accounts and administration of the unit; ? Ensure agreed strategies are implemented and compliance with regulatory authorities is maintained; ? Establish short- and long-term goals for the Unit in consultation with management and implement; ? Participate in various Local and Regional Trade and Tendering activities with various NGOs, institutions (World Food Program ? WFP) and Government agencies for supply of Agro products; ? Identify and engage with potential clients, trading houses, industry stakeholders for day-to-day trading of agro products including Maize, Coffee, Rice etc; ? Look after day to day buying and selling of the agro products, vendor management ? Provide leadership to staff and educate them on business objectives to enhance employee performance; ? Presenting various MIS reports to the management/board at such intervals as may be agreed to with the Board of Directors; ? Work with operations, plant management and maintenance and (vii) To undertake any delegated responsibilities that may from time to time be assigned by the Board of Directors from time to time. Desired qualifications, skills, experience, attributes and competencies: (i) Possession of at least a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture. Post graduate qualifications in related areas of Business Administration may be of added advantage especially when coupled with 10-15 years of experience in Agricultural / Commodity trading / or other relevant industry in techno-commercial function in the Africa Region; (ii) Possession of at least 8 years of proven Senior Management level experience like General Manager or Business Unit Head with a reputable Organization; (iii) demonstrable ability to create workable business models out of the agriculture domain in different geographies in the country and region; (iv) demonstrable understanding of agro - business trends relevant to the business and ability to anticipate future trends with the view to appropriately positioning the business; (v) Demonstrated knowledge and capacity to undertake the responsibilities herein above mentioned with the view to delivering deliverables defined; (vi). Desired candidate should have good SAP knowledge given that it is the ERP System in use; (vii). The candidate should be industrious, level-headed, flexible, a good team player with excellent inter personal relations, ready to work under minimal supervision and committed to achieving set and agreed to tasks targets from time to time; (viii). Possession of good and demonstrated managerial skills and competencies that are key for the huge administrative responsibility that is attached to being Business Head at the Organization; (ix). Demonstrated leadership qualities and skills and (x). Desired candidate should be middle- aged preferably between 40-45 years of age;
