Job Description : TRANSPORTATION DIRECTOR WEST AFRICAN REGION The Transportation Director is responsible for leading the planning, development, and implementation of strategies and initiatives to improve transportation services and operations. They will develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including local governments, transportation providers, and regulatory agencies. The Transportation Director ensures that the organization's transportation services meet customer requirements, are cost-effective, and are in compliance with all applicable regulations. The Director will coordinate with other departments, such as maintenance and safety, to ensure smooth operations. The successful candidate will have excellent management, organizational, and communication skills, as well as a strong understanding of the regulations and laws related to transportation operations. Transportation Director Duties Plan, develop and implement transportation strategies and initiatives Manage the transportation budget Prepare, review and approve the department’s annual budget Develop and implement policies, procedures and programs related to transportation Provide leadership and direction to transportation staff Negotiate and coordinate contracts, services and agreements Supervise the daily operations of the transportation department Ensure compliance with safety regulations and laws Develop and coordinate safety training programs Collaborate with other departments and agencies to coordinate transportation services Evaluate and analyze transportation programs and services Monitor and analyze data to assess the performance of transportation initiatives Develop and implement performance metrics Transportation Director Skills Leadership Organizational Strategic Planning Budget Management Data Analysis Communication Transportation Director Requirements Bachelor’s degree in business or related field Minimum of 25 years of experience in transportation or logistics planning Ability to collaborate effectively with external partners Strong organizational and problem-solving skills Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures Personal Traits Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Ability to think analytically and strategically Ability to plan, organize and manage multiple projects Proficient in project management software
