Job Description : COUNTRY GM ZAMBIA to lead and provide strategic direction to the country, formulating and implementing clear and effective strategic, commercial, operational and business growth strategies and plans which drive long-term sustainable value and drive growth within the country which is aligned with our client's Vision, Mission and Values. Ensures the country operations are efficient, effective, quality conscious and profitable in all target business areas and drive collaboration with other countries and business units. Develop and lead the formulation and implementation of the country strategy. Design business development initiatives to take our client's products to the Zambia/Malawi market. Research and analyze market opportunities, identify potential customers, develop business proposals, and negotiate business deals. egotiate contracts, manage purchasing, and maintain long-term supplier relationships. Maintain an extensive network of internal and external contacts to ensure that Zambia/Malawi is optimally placed to grow the business. Conduct market intelligence to assess competitors in the same line of business and implement interventions. Develop, implement, and monitor marketing plans, including design and implementation of promotion programs, and hire and train sales and marketing. Monitor operational country performance against strategic objectives by regular management reviews to ensure that objectives are fulfilled, and the required corrective action is taken in an efficient and timely manner. Lead relationship building initiatives with Principal Vendors including playing the collaborative role in negotiations with respect to pricing, procurement and inventory control in country. Build and manage a high performing team by providing leadership, role clarity, training and career development. Ensure open communication channels with staff and implement change management interventions where necessary. Provide definition of roles, responsibilities, individual goals and performance objectives for the team. Set KPIs and provide regular performance feedback through a well-defined and implemented performance review program within country. Encourage knowledge transfer through development and implementation of a knowledge transfer plan and drive continuous improvement philosophy through the knowledge transfer plan. Ensure that appropriate governance systems are in place and in line with future requirements, i.e. policies, procedures and reporting structures. Manage business risk, through continuous internal and external monitoring of business impact, as well as changes in stakeholder needs. Lead and guide improvement projects that will increase profits or protect against risks in the function. Establish and maintain the highest ethical standards in operations and country practices. Ensure that the business unit is fully compliant with all our client's Group initiatives through conducting regular audits and taking corrective action. Oversee relationship with service providers and ensure all the services are delivered properly, evaluate the performance of consultants and report any deviations to the relevant department for any corrective actions. Manage relationships with other Country Heads/Managing Directors and act as a trusted advisor. Skills: Strong entrepreneurial skills. Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in managing a countrywide operational function. Excellent negotiation skills and influence skills. Ability to focus on creating an organisation that meets the needs of the future. Ability to understand the impact of what we do on societies. Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent. Business related Master’s degree is preferable. ICT qualification. Business related qualification. Background in ICT, experience in working in a Tech company. 18+ years of progressive, professional and holistic Operations experience. Experience managing countrywide Operations function within a complex organisation. Knowledge of local laws. Executive experience to produce mid-term to long term strategies around operations management. Proven Leadership experience. Good business acumen. Proven experience in managing international stakeholders.
