General Manager

Job Description : General Manager (GM) Location: Rwanda Industry: Retail (Supermarket/Hypermarket) Reports To: Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Position Summary: We are seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager (GM) to lead our retail operations in Rwanda. The ideal candidate will have extensive retail experience, significant international exposure, and a positive, open-minded attitude. This role requires a strategic leader who can drive growth and ensure operational excellence. Key Responsibilities: - Leadership and Management: Provide strategic direction and leadership to the entire retail team, ensuring the achievement of business goals and objectives. - Operational Oversight: Oversee daily operations, ensuring efficiency, effectiveness, and adherence to company policies and standards. - Market Expansion: Develop and implement strategies for market penetration and expansion within Rwanda and potentially other regions. - Financial Management: Manage budgets, financial planning, and cost control to meet financial targets and improve profitability. Take responsibility for the P&Ls at the country and store levels. - Customer Experience: Ensure exceptional customer service and satisfaction across all retail outlets. - Staff Development:Mentor and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. - Compliance and Standards: Ensure all operations comply with local regulations and company standards. - Reporting: Provide regular reports to senior management on performance, challenges, and strategic initiatives. *Mandatory Criteria:* - *Experience:* Minimum of 15 years in retail (supermarkets/hypermarkets); significant personal development within the sector. - Preferably previous GM experience; high-potential candidates without GM experience may be considered. - Significant international experience, preferably in Africa. - *Languages:* Proficiency in English and French.
