Job Description : Head Production and Operations (Edible Oils and / or Fats) Job Location Mozambique, Africa Job Overview/Objective The Manager of Operations (Edible Oil & Fats) is responsible for overseeing the entire production and operational functions for the Oil & Fats division, including crushing and manufacturing of cooking oils, soaps. This role ensures that all processes, from raw material sourcing to product distribution, are optimized for efficiency, quality, and profitability. The Manager of Operations will implement best practices in manufacturing, quality assurance, and cost management while aligning with the companys long-term strategic goals. The role will also ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations, driving innovation and sustainability within the business. Reporting Line The Manager of Operations (Oil & Fats) reports directly to the CEO or to Head of Operations, collaborating closely with production managers and heads of other departments to ensure smooth operations and strategic alignment. Key Responsibilities 1. Production Management: · Oversee all manufacturing operations, including crushing of oilseeds and production of palm, soya, canola, and sunflower oils. · Ensure the timely production of toilet soaps, laundry soaps, maintaining quality and output levels. 2. Supply Chain & Logistics Management: · Oversee procurement of raw materials ensuring reliable sourcing at competitive rates. · Manage the supply chain 3. Quality Control & Compliance: · Establish and monitor strict quality control processes to maintain product standards for oils, soaps. 4. Cost Management & Financial Oversight: 5. Innovation & R&D Collaboration: 6. Team Leadership & Development: 7. Strategic Alignment & Reporting: Required Skills & Competencies · Operational Expertise: In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, particularly in oil crushing, soap, and detergent production. · Compliance Management: Strong understanding of quality control, food safety standards, and compliance with environmental regulations. Education & Experience Requirements · Education: Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Engineering, Food Science, or a related field. An MBA or advanced degree is preferred. · Experience: Minimum of 10 years in operations management within the oils, fats, soaps, or detergent industries, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role. Additional Requirements · Travel: Occasional travel is required to visit production sites, meet suppliers, and oversee product distribution. · Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP systems, supply chain management software, and performance tracking tools.
