Job Description : Country Head - Pharmaceutical/Healthcare Products Distributor Location: Uganda Industry: Pharmaceutical/Healthcare Products Distributor Department:Management Reports to: General Manager – Kenya 2. JOB PURPOSE Responsible for the management and performance of the company. Manage the business and its activities in accordance with the strategy, plans, practices, and policies approved by the COO. Lead, manage and co-ordinate all activities of company’s businesses across all segments & labs in Uganda. Provide strategic direction to the Heads of departments and their teams. 3. KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Strategic Management • Monitor the organisation performance against the strategic plan, working with the management team to stay on target. • Lead the short-, medium- and long-term development and follow up the agreed actions to be implemented. • Provide leadership in the development and implementation of operational policies to support the business objectives. • Promote a performance-oriented culture, which encourages team development. • Ensure that the work plans and supervision systems are in place to meet the business strategies and objectives. • Ensure that the business health and safety are always implemented in all aspects of service delivery and employment. • Ensure that the business has appropriate and up to date policies and procedures. • Build and maintain positive and effective relationship with external partners, banks, customers, government among others. • Maintain a working knowledge of significant development and trends in the healthcare field. Marketing and Business Development • Play an active role with the stakeholders, exploring new opportunities for the business growth. • Ensure that the company implement its commitment to delivering, with excellent customer focused service. • Develop and maintain a customer focused culture and reputation. Financial Management & Control • Oversees overall business and projects, in terms of budget and timelines. • Ensure that the financial figures and comments for reporting are available within deadlines. • Facilitate the budgeting process and monitor the performance of the business against the set objectives. • Responsible for the financial results of all business labs and sectors in Uganda. • Ensure that proper monitoring controls are in place. Team Management • Recruit, select and orientate the Branch Managers and provide assistance with settling team members. • Increase management effectiveness by training, coaching, counselling and disciplining direct reporting heads/ managers. • Ensure that the teams are aware and understand the values, strategies and objectives of the business. • Undertake regular performance appraisal to all direct reports, providing effective review/feedback and ensuring that the objectives are monitored. • Set goals, establish results measurements and review job progress with management team. • Create and maintain a positive and conducive work environment where teams are engaged and willing to perform at maximum capacity. • Ensure that the teams are engaged in Human Capital initiatives, including but not limited to leadership development, performance management, succession planning among others. Quality Management Systems • Contribute towards the development and maintenance of a robust quality management system and spear-head the inculcation of a continuous improvement culture in the department. • Develop and periodically approve updated documentation required for Branch operations. • Assist in the development of departmental objectives and mechanisms to monitor and analyze achievement of the same. • Contribute to team effort, the committee management teams and any other assigned Projects by accomplishing related results as and when requested. • Ensure efficient communication and follow up on issues that require interdepartmental coordination by engaging actively with various heads of departments as per the defined Company Governance. • Implement, follow and commit to all approved Standard Operating Procedures and Policies of the Company. 4. Qualifications, Skills and other prerequisites Qualifications • Degree holder in a science field with an MBA / business management or any other equivalent. Experience • At least 8-10years of relevant experience in a similar position / senior management team. Technical Knowledge & Skills • Sound knowledge of organisational management and development • Understanding of successful human relations and personnel management • Excellent interpersonal skills • Ability to take responsibility for getting things done • Outstanding leadership skills • Ability to influence persuasively • Strong analytic skills • A strong sense of personal responsibility and accountability, with high professional standards • Ability to manage risks strategically • Strong sense of urgency and results-orientation. • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. • Demonstrate a high level of integrity. • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make decisions.
