Job Description : MECHANICAL MAINTENANCE MANAGER UGANDA Industry: FMCG Manufacturing Join a leading MNC FMCG manufacturing company as a Mechanical Maintenance Manager, where you will oversee the maintenance and optimization of critical mechanical equipment and utilities. This role involves ensuring production efficiency, implementing robust maintenance strategies, and leading a team in alignment with global standards. Maintenance Operations: Plan and execute preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of mechanical equipment and utilities to ensure seamless production. Minimize downtime and enhance equipment reliability. Boiler and Utilities Oversight: Manage high-capacity coal-fired boilers (10-15 tons), chillers, air compressors, and other utilities essential to the manufacturing process. Monitor utility performance and implement cost-optimization strategies. Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of 10-20 maintenance professionals, fostering a culture of safety and technical excellence. Assign tasks, conduct training programs, and evaluate team performance. Equipment Optimization: Troubleshoot mechanical issues promptly and provide effective solutions to reduce downtime. Oversee the calibration and alignment of machinery to maintain production quality. Compliance and Safety: Ensure adherence to local and international safety standards. Promote a safety-first culture and conduct regular audits and training. Collaboration and Coordination: Work closely with production, quality assurance, and supply chain teams to align maintenance activities with organizational goals. Support global initiatives for operational improvements and technology upgrades. Budget and Resource Management: Manage the maintenance budget, optimizing costs without compromising equipment reliability. Ensure adequate inventory of spare parts and timely procurement to prevent delays. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and energy utilization. Prepare regular reports for the Group Technical Head and senior management. Education: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (candidates with electrical education but strong mechanical maintenance experience will also be considered). Experience: 12-20 years in mechanical maintenance within the FMCG or manufacturing industry, preferably in soap or detergent production. Skills: Proficiency in maintaining high-capacity boilers and utilities. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities. Experience with maintenance planning software and tools. Preferred Attributes: Team management experience Familiarity with MNC standards and global compliance practices.
