Job Description : CFO - Arizona Pharmaceutical Company Phoenix area, AZ, USA Private Equity Backed Pharmaceutical Company The Riverside Company is the largest private equity firm focused on the smaller end of the middle market and is one of the industry's most experienced leveraged buyout investors. Riverside specializes in investing in premier companies with enterprise values of less than $150 million, and partners with strong management teams to build companies through acquisitions and value-added growth. We are interested in talking to Chief Financial Officer candidates for a potential acquisition we are looking at in the Phoenix, AZ area. The CFO will be responsible for all aspects of financial, systems and administrative management for the Company, which is in a pharmacy and pharmaceuticals related business. Annual sales for this company are in the $10 - $20 million range. The Chief Financial Officer will be responsible for all aspects of financial, accounting systems and administrative management. This role will provide key leadership in corporate and operational financial functions, including financial and operational control; cost accounting; inventory management; forecasting and analysis; cash flow; treasury; audit; and taxes. This individual will function as a strategic business partner, an enabler and a problem solver in strategic issues facing the Company. The CFO will develop relationships to establish and maintain visibility, credibility and strong interface with (1) the CEO; (2) private equity partners; and (3) the balance of the management and operating team. In order to be successful, the CFO must: Create accurate and useful levels of information, performance, reporting and key metrics for management and investors. Be directly involved with the daily financial oversight and management of the company. Take charge of the financial and reporting aspects of the Company including continuous and ongoing analysis of results to identify and highlight trends and thoroughly explain anomalies and variances in operating results. Focus on systems accounting, control and service issues in integrating businesses. Help drive the performance, strategic planning and growth of the business. The CFO must have a general management mindset and finance, accounting, and systems skill sets with an ability to partner with the CEO in growing the business and increasing shareholder value. Will provide complete and accurate reporting for financial accounting and control as part of management and investor oversight. Someone with a proven track record in an entrepreneurial and private equity environment is highly preferred. An undergraduate business, finance or accounting degree. A CPA is strongly preferred, an MBA would be helpful but not required. At least 25 years of progressive financial management experience ideally including some early career experience in a Big 4 or National CPA firm, with later leadership experience in a tightly controlled financial management system in industry. Ideally the candidate will have exposure to the operational aspects of a small to medium sized business. The successful Chief Financial Officer will have demonstrated their knowledge of financial systems and infrastructure. This knowledge will include developing financial reporting and internal controls in an environment needing to grow organically and potentially integrate businesses and acquisitions. He/She will be completely comfortable with aggregating financial data from acquired organizations as part of producing an integrated finance picture for the company. Systems implementation expertise and experience is critical. The successful candidate will have demonstrated his/her leadership not only as a finance executive, but also as part of a successful management team. In short, this individual will have a track record of experience with: • Implementation of mid-tier business systems such as MAS, NetSuites, Intacct, Dynamics, etc. • Establishing and ensuring maintenance of systems of internal control. • Knowledge of and application of U.S. GAAP. • Managing banking relationships, covenant testing, etc. • Risk management. • Evaluating and controlling capital expenditures, preparing CAPEX documents. • Cash management including creation of detailed cash forecasts • Weekly/monthly Dashboard Performance Indicators. • Operational analysis. • Budgeting, forecasting, and auditing. • Information systems optimization. From an industry knowledge standpoint, prior experience in the pharma industry would be helpful. All of these experiences will come together in a personable and highly approachable package with a balanced ego and the ability to dig in and focus on building a business. The CFO will be able to bring an experienced, professional business process and systems mentality into a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment.
