Job Description : SENIOR LAB MANAGER OMAN The Senior Laboratory Manager will oversee and lead all laboratory operaons for the mining division, ensuring accurate, efficient, and high-quality tesng and analysis. With over 20 years of experience in laboratory tesng within the mining industry, the ideal candidate will bring technical experse, strategic leadership, and operaonal excellence to support the organizaons goals. The role involves managing advanced analycal tesng, maintaining compliance with internaonal standards, opmizing workflows, and mentoring a muldisciplinary team. Key Responsibilies 1. Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance laboratory capabilies and align with organizaonal objecves. Drive innovaon by integrang advanced technologies and methodologies into lab operaons. Act as a key advisor to senior management on technical, operaonal, and industry-related developments. 2. Laboratory Operaons Management: Oversee the execuon of analycal tesng using techniques such as XRD, XRF, ICP-OES, ICP-MS, and AAS. Ensure laboratories operate efficiently, meeng deadlines and delivering accurate, reliable results. Manage resources, including staffing, equipment, and budgets, to opmize performance and cost-effecveness. Oversee day-to-day laboratory operaons, ensuring efficient sample processing. Manage the calibraon, maintenance, and reliability of laboratory instruments. 3. Quality Assurance and Compliance: Establish and maintain quality control systems to ensure compliance with ISO and other industry standards. Monitor and enforce health, safety, and environmental regulaons across all lab operaons. Conduct regular audits, reviews, and updates to laboratory protocols to maintain best pracces. Develop and oversee quality control (QC) programs, addressing effecvely. 4. Team Leadership and Development: Lead, mentor, and inspire a diverse team of chemists, technicians, and lab managers. Conduct training programs to enhance technical skills, safety awareness, and professional growth. Foster a collaborave and high-performing team culture. 5. Client and Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the primary contact for internal and external stakeholders regarding laboratory services. Ensure client requirements are met with high-quality deliverables and mely reporng. Build and maintain strong relaonships with clients, suppliers, and regulatory authories. Provide technical guidance to clients to ensure proper sampling and tesng procedures. Maintain secure, accurate records of all data, adhering to regulatory and company standards. Communicate proacvely with clients regarding project updates and addional requirements. 6. Operaonal Opmizaon and Innovaon: Idenfy and implement opportunies for process improvements and cost efficiencies. Stay updated with advancements in laboratory technologies and methodologies. Drive projects to upgrade equipment, facilies, and workflows to meet industry demands. Qualificaons and Experience: • Educaon: Masters degree in Chemistry, Geology, Metallurgy, or a related field. A Ph.D. is an advantage. • Experience: 20+ years of hands-on experience in laboratory tesng within the mining industry or related sectors. Extensive experience with advanced analycal techniques, including XRD, XRF, ICP-OES, ICP-MS, and AAS. Proven track record of managing large-scale laboratory operaons and leading muldisciplinary teams. Experience in industrial minerals, base metals, Ferrous metal, precious metal Rare Earth Elements (REEs) Skills and Competencies: • Technical Experse: In-depth knowledge of mineral and geochemical analysis methods. Experse in laboratory management systems and data analysis tools. • Leadership and Communicaon: Strong leadership and organizaonal skills. Excellent verbal and wrien communicaon abilies for technical reporng and stakeholder engagement. • Problem-Solving and Decision-Making: Analycal and strategic thinking with the ability to resolve complex technical and operaonal challenges. • Quality and Safety Focus: Commitment to maintaining high-quality standards and enforcing HSE regulaons. Work Environment: • Primarily site-based with occasional travel to other laboratory locaons or client meengs. • Exposure to mining environments and laboratory sengs with adherence to strict safety protocols.
