Job Description : EXPAT LOGISTICS AND SUPPLY CHAIN HEAD CHILE Location is on site, strictly bachelor accommodation and pays USD 96,000 per annum. Leave rotation is 150/20 days "Logistics and Supply Chain Head for Mining" is responsible for overseeing all aspects of a mining company's supply chain, from procuring raw materials to delivering finished products, ensuring efficient movement of goods while adhering to strict safety and regulatory standards within the mining environment; key duties include managing inventory, transportation logistics, warehouse operations, supplier relationships, and optimizing supply chain processes to maximize cost-effectiveness and operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive logistics and supply chain strategies aligned with overall mining operations goals, including cost reduction, inventory optimization, and delivery time optimization. Conduct market analysis to identify potential supply chain risks and opportunities. Forecast demand and manage inventory levels to prevent stockouts and minimize carrying costs. Procurement and Supplier Management: Source and negotiate contracts with reliable suppliers for mining equipment, consumables, and other necessary materials. Establish performance metrics for suppliers and monitor their compliance with quality, delivery, and safety standards. Manage supplier relationships to ensure timely delivery and cost-effective procurement. Transportation and Logistics: Oversee the transportation of raw materials from mine sites to processing facilities and finished products to customers, including managing fleet operations, route optimization, and multi-modal transportation options (trucking, rail, barge). Coordinate with logistics providers to ensure efficient and safe transportation, including compliance with mining regulations. Monitor and manage transportation costs. Warehouse Management: Manage warehouse operations, including inventory control, storage optimization, and order fulfillment processes. Implement warehouse management systems (WMS) to track inventory levels and optimize space utilization. Cost Management: Analyze and identify cost reduction opportunities within the supply chain, such as freight optimization, inventory management, and supplier negotiations. Develop budget plans and monitor spending against established targets. Compliance and Safety: Ensure adherence to all relevant mining safety regulations and industry standards regarding transportation, warehousing, and material handling. Implement safety procedures and training programs for logistics teams. Performance Monitoring and Improvement: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to track supply chain performance and identify areas for improvement. Utilize data analytics to identify trends and implement continuous improvement initiatives. Required Skills and Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field. Extensive experience in logistics and supply chain management within the mining industry. Proven ability to manage complex supply chains in a remote and challenging mining environment. Strong understanding of mining operations, safety regulations, and environmental considerations. Expertise in transportation planning, inventory management, and warehouse operations. Excellent analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis tools. Leadership and communication skills to effectively manage cross-functional teams and collaborate with stakeholders across the organization.
