Job Description : HEAD OF DATA SCIENCE LONDON UK This role offers an exciting opportunity to support the mission of helping members live happier, healthier lives through data-driven insights. The successful candidate will work closely with stakeholders across the business, identifying high-value data science projects aligned with organisational priorities. You'll be instrumental in driving the adoption of advanced Machine Learning Ops capabilities on a new Google Cloud-based platform, and ensuring its seamless integration into existing infrastructure. As Head of Data Science, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future direction of our client's data science initiatives. Your leadership will guide a team of six talented data scientists, fostering an environment that encourages innovation and collaboration. You will be responsible for identifying high-impact projects, building compelling business cases for them, and securing buy-in for their delivery. Your proactive approach will be key in resolving any issues that arise during model deployment. With your deep understanding of the company's data assets, you will inform project identification and selection. Contribute significantly to the data science roadmap, setting out project priorities into the medium-term Drive roadmap projects through to successful deployment and demonstrate their impact on the business bottom line Build and manage relationships with a wide range of stakeholders across Health and Life businesses as well as operational support functions and IT delivery teams Monitor and manage live models, taking initiative to refit and calibrate to latest experience Work closely with data warehousing and data engineering teams to ensure access to necessary data for current and future projects Manage data science team members, ensuring alignment with departmental and business-wide vision and strategies Gain a deep understanding of the company's data assets to inform project identification and selection Draft and present reports to senior management on project performance What you bring: As Head of Data Science, you bring deep experience in developing and deploying impactful machine learning applications within a commercial environment. Your proven leadership skills have seen you guide high-performing data science teams to success. You are comfortable working in a cloud-based environment and have a strong understanding of software engineering best practices. Your excellent communication skills enable you to effectively liaise with both technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels of the organisation. Proven experience developing and deploying impactful machine learning applications in a commercial environment Experience leading a high-performing data science team Experience developing and deploying models in a cloud-based environment Strong communication skills, able to communicate at all levels of the organisation, across technical and non-technical audiences Proven experience identifying high-impact projects, building a business case for those projects, and getting buy-in for their delivery Good appreciation of software engineering best practices Fluency in Python and SQL
