Workshop Manager 

Job Description : WORKSHOP MANAGER TANZANIA t a rapidly growing logistics company in Tanzania, is looking for a workshop manager to join their team. The Workshop Manager will oversee all maintenance and repair activities for a fleet of over 300 trucks, ensuring safety, efficiency, and minimal downtime. The role requires strong technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and alignment with operational and cultural objectives. Salary and benefits: competitive Workshop operations management Manage all repair and maintenance activities to ensure the fleet operates efficiently and meets safety standards. Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules to reduce vehicle breakdowns. Track and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for maintenance efficiency and fleet performance. Ensure effective communication and collaboration with Operations Managers to align workshop activities with broader logistics goals. Team leadership and development Lead, train, and mentor a team of mechanics and workshop support staff to enhance their skills and productivity. Promote a collaborative, safety-conscious, and performance-oriented work environment. Conduct regular performance evaluations and implement development plans for workshop employees. Inventory and cost management Monitor and manage inventory levels for critical spare parts, including tires and lubricants. Collaborate with the procurement team to source high-quality, cost-effective parts and supplies. Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising on safety or quality standards. Compliance and safety Ensure all workshop operations comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of repairs, inspections, and maintenance schedules. Conduct root cause analysis for recurring maintenance issues and implement corrective actions. Strategic planning and reporting Provide technical insights and data-driven recommendations to senior management to improve fleet efficiency. Develop and implement systems to monitor vehicle performance post-repair. Prepare detailed operational reports on workshop performance, resource utilization, and fleet conditions. Technical expertise: deep understanding of truck and trailer maintenance, diagnostics, and repair processes. Analytical skills: capable of conducting root cause analyses and developing actionable solutions. Diploma or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Automotive Technology, or a related field. Professional certifications in fleet management or automotive diagnostics are an added advantage. At least 15 years of experience managing workshops for large commercial fleets, including exposure to diagnostic tools and software. Proven track record of reducing downtime and improving fleet operational efficiency.
