Job Description : LOGISTICS HEAD MINING SE AFRICA FOR RT MINES responsible for overseeing all logistical operations within a mining company, ensuring the efficient and cost-effective movement of raw materials, supplies, and finished products from the mine site to processing facilities or customers, while adhering to safety regulations and optimizing transportation modes across various stages of the mining process; key duties include managing transportation contracts, coordinating warehouse operations, optimizing inventory levels, and monitoring logistics performance metrics to identify areas for improvement. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive logistics strategies to optimize the flow of materials throughout the mining operation, considering transportation modes (road, rail, conveyor belt), storage facilities, and potential disruptions. Transportation Management: Negotiate contracts with transportation providers to secure competitive rates and service levels for bulk material movement. Monitor carrier performance against agreed-upon KPIs (delivery times, safety records). Optimize routes and scheduling to minimize transportation costs and maximize efficiency. Inventory Control: Manage inventory levels at the mine site and processing facilities to avoid stockouts and minimize carrying costs. Implement inventory management systems to track material flow and identify potential bottlenecks. Warehouse Operations: Oversee warehouse operations, including receiving, storing, and dispatching materials. Ensure proper labeling, documentation, and quality control procedures are followed within the warehouse. Cost Management: Analyze logistics costs and identify opportunities for cost reduction through process improvements and vendor negotiations. Develop budget plans for logistics operations and track spending against budget. Compliance and Safety: Ensure adherence to all relevant safety regulations, environmental standards, and transportation compliance requirements within the mining operation. Implement safety protocols and training programs for logistics personnel. Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with internal stakeholders like mining operations, processing plants, and sales teams to coordinate logistics activities. Liaise with external vendors including transporters, customs brokers, and logistics providers. Required Skills and Qualifications: Industry Experience: Proven experience in logistics management within the mining industry, understanding of unique challenges and regulations. Logistics Expertise: Strong knowledge of transportation modes, warehousing practices, inventory management systems, and supply chain optimization techniques. Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and use insights to improve logistics processes. Negotiation Skills: Proven ability to negotiate contracts with transportation providers and other vendors. Leadership Abilities: Capability to lead and motivate a team of logistics professionals.
