Job Description : IMPORT AND EXPORT MANAGER SOUTHERN AFRICA • Supports the Exports Logistics Head in embedding best practices, minimum standards, policies, processes, tools, technology and enablers, through the Illovo Outbound Logistics and Sales Way and capability development strategy. • Develops, maintains the needed reports and keeps same updated to provide accurate shipment visibility. • Liaises and guides Business Unit teams (Country teams) with shipping queries and insurance claims, to ensure proactive solutions are administered and all parties are kept informed. • Co-ordinates Business Unit operational meetings to support teams, as well as provide updates on logistics movements. • Collaborates with Business Unit teams and shipping lines to develop and execute both regional and sea freight forecasts, securing vessel space and equipment, managing the physical bookings, and ensuring the accurate and timely movement of goods to achieve targeted volume timelines. • Communicates updates with Customer and Sales team on delivery status for selected key routes that require consolidation, also act as an escalation point for service queries. • Provides insight, reviews and interrogates data input for exports dashboard. • Analyses export data and make recommendations on ways of improvement. • Facilitates solutions to improve TCOL (Total Cost of Logistics) and improving movement efficiency (reducing touches). • Works closely with Business Unit teams to ensure key performance indicator (KPI) tracking is updated in each country. • Consolidates, tracks and shares export KPI’s with the business and liaises with Business Unit teams to proactively identify and implement solutions to meet or exceed targets and reduce operational costs. • Interrogates new contracts, new routes and new markets, on logistical requirements and optimization, collate information and conduct trials to ensure execution is seamless and the cost calculated correctly. • Supports the tender processes and manage the performance and implement strategic improvements. • Creates, reviews and audits relevant standard operating procedures (as required). • Engages in regular Service Level Agreement (SLA) review meetings with shipping lines, warehousing partners and service providers. • Track and analyse KPIs, ensuring service levels and rates are being maintained, aligned to contractual obligations are met. SPECIFICATIONS • Advanced Diploma or degree in Logistics / Supply Chain / Business / Sales / Marketing • 10 years’ experience in exports distribution in sub-Saharan Africa • Knowledge of inter-country and cross border requirements, including INCO terms • Ocean and road freight exports and imports execution experience • Supplier performance management experience • Strong Africa Customer centricity orientation • Highly developed oral and written communication skills • Proactive and self-motivated who is able to work collaboratively with various teams • Innovative, intuitive with ability to anticipate, interpret and interpret complex issues impacting on functional area • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills, with a continuous improvement mind-set • Strong MS Office Skills, and Transport Management System experience (ideal) • Willingness to travel to all ABF Sugar operations within Africa
